Aliens: Colonial Marines Video Appeal

Gearbox Software will shed some light on the recent online petition that is requesting female characters to be included in the multiplayer aspect of Aliens: Colonial Marines this Sunday at their PAX Prime panel. In the meantime, you can watch a new video below featuring Trevor Steedman, who played Wierzbowski in ALIENS, appealing for support for said petition:

A special thanks to Mr. Steedman, ADC and Moosh89 for the video.

This matches with what I was told. Minus the bit about Brian Burleson which I never heard before. Nice to see them talk about it openly.

I hope you can write swears on you're gear, I wanna have Bad Motherf***er written on my chest! It would be cool too if you chose or make a symbol to put on your gear like the skull Hudson has on his armour!

QuoteThe online controversy was first stirred by a post-E3 interview where senior producer Brian Burleson had claimed there were no playable female characters. What he meant, Pitchford told me, was that there were no playable characters in the E3 demo, which only featured team deathmatch

    Backpedal much...

Dammit! haha, I wish there was a like button on these forums!!! hahahaha, no kidding :)

Quote from: ChrisF;2708666I am happy to be able to confirm that female marines are playable in competitive multiplayer as well as co-op, complete with customization elements. This is something the team has been planning and working on for quite some time, and that work is finally at the point where we can confirm it will indeed ship with the game when it releases on February 12, 2013.

    Hoping its like I listed!!

Anyway, Congrats for real this time!!!

    f**king confirmed multi-player, f**k yes!!!

    Thanks!

While that is extremely great news, I hope that isn't all the news regarding this that will be revealed today!

Still hoping for a completely customizable experience for both Males and Females, Like Head (and maybe hair!), Skin, Body (Slim/thicker) Armour customization, etc... in the COMPETITIVE multiplayer!

    Thanks again for sharing!!

Just to clarify everyone, I believe we jumped the gun a little bit here with the celebrations.

I would still prepare for bad news regarding playable females. As a friend pointed out, the interviewer does not say explicitly "playable females". I have been on my iPhone all night reading the forums so I will re-edit first thing tomorrow when I can get on my laptop again :)

If it is bad news I still have big plans for the petition, don't worry!

So hope for the best, prepare for the worst!

    JUMP THE GUN NO MORE

A playable female marine, as well as other playable characters, just got announced:

QuoteDemarcus, Jennifer and Guillermo appear as playable characters in co-op. When playing through the campaign in co-op, the host controls Winter with the rest of the party able to choose between players Demarcus, Jennifer and Guillermo -- complete with a variety of customization elements we'll have more on later.

Goddamn. I just checked it. Almost 4000. Good for u sister. Metroid & Alien have been my series of choice ever since I was little, so I fully understand the importance of strong, unsexualized female portrayals. Good to see someone getting something done in such a big way.

Just saw the Steedman video, Moosh. It's blowing me away how much support you've been able to get for this petition. It's really an inspiring thing. You're one of the best people on this forum, for sure. :)

    Wierzbowski :)

in the multiplayer the female playable character could be implemented anytime, im not sure about the storyline, even more if the main character has dialogues in it...

Hmm, on that image I think I can see Ferro, Dietrich, Wierzbowski and Apone(?) but I'm really not sure who the big guy on the left is?

By the way, I'll be getting this on PS3 no matter the outcome/reviews so if you need someone to ensure that the Aliens "Get Some!!" I'd be happy to join you and anyone else who's stuck for teammates.
