What Did David Say to the Engineer?

The website Thebioscopist.com has tracked down the linguistics consultant used for Prometheus in a effort to determinate what David says to the Engineer in the final scenes. Below you can find the translated quote:

This man is here because he does not want to die. He believes you can give him more life.

It has also been revealed that there was a conversation between the Engineer and David originally which didn’t made the cut.

“We’re all going to have to wait for the Director’s cut to see if the conversation between the Engineer and David – and there was indeed originally a conversation, not merely an utterance from David – yields any fruit”. The consultant said.

Thanks to seeasea for the link.

Well according to the original article linked in the 1st post:
    http://thebioscopist.com/2012/06/20/the-linguistics-of-prometheus-what-david-says-to-the-engineer/

The 'Professor' in the clip is in fact the real-life linguistics consultant used for the film and taught Michael Fassbender (David) the dialogue. I managed to track down the consultant, a Dr. Anil Biltoo of the SOAS Language Centre in London, to see if he could shed some light on the mysterious final scene.

What is interesting here is that the Twitter Girl had said before that the Engineer did bond with David - so I guess she may have seen the parts where they have a full conversation.

Why? It caressed David's head. That equated to perceived bonding.

Whats more interesting is that Twitter girl said that the last engineer was close to the sacrafise engineer and it was hinted that the last engineer was responsible for what happened at the engineer base as an act of revenge. maybe he was pissed after david questions because his friend was forced to die for mankind and then Weyland turned up asking for more life...

im pretty sure twitter girl so the full cut of the film. remember she was asked to give feedback on the various scenes.

she also said that vickers survived and there were large xenos.

    who knows...

man.. if maria ozawa wasnt retired from porn she could definitely do the prometheus porn spoof....

dammit. :P (the world will never know the awesomeness.)

    Spoiler
It definitely wouldnt end with only the engineer being tentacle'd.

Proto Indo European... It was the language spoken on europe around the time of the cave paintings with the engineer figures. :P The language itself is a reconstruction based on the languages that descend from it. More at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proto-Indo-European_language

This is a no brainer. All the ingredients are really cheap. Blue paint, Engineer Halloween costume, one whore and a giant squid. What, that's like 100 dollars for the squid and 16.99 for the rest? Everyone with nasty friends already has a camera so that's all free.

Still if anything was ever to be marketed in Hentai it would be this movie.

Plus, the engineer responded to him it looked like. A whisper. I wonder what was said there.

Maybe he said something along the lines of

"Because of us, you will die in the very fantasy of brutal Japanese rape porn"

I can't blame the Engineer for overreacting about that one.

I think most of us had already assumed that David said something like this and pissed off the engineer. Now if only we could figure out what the hell the black goo does.

I swear I can not, NOT think about LOST when it comes to the Black Goo. What'd they have? A living island with a bright light inside that could turn people into black smoke. HNNNNNNNNG

he also feels davids face before he turns violent... what if he could sense that he wasnt human and the fact that their creations, smaller versions of them (ie us) had in turn gone on to create David..... maybe thats what pissed him off.... as Weyland said, We are the gods now..............

As I've said elsewhere, animatronics really isn't all that radically advanced a science - Hollywood was doing it longer ago than many members of this forum were even alive. If that's enough to launch them into a psychotic rage, they need to get their scientific priorities in order.

Besides which, for all the thing knew, David 8 might have been a live human being wearing a medical or cosmetic prosthetic.

Yeah, that could have also played a part. I seem to remember the Engineer smiling too, when he first got out of the cryo-tube prior to David talking to him. Maybe he had no intention of hurting them in the first place.

No, I remember the smile came AFTER David spoke. But he didn't become violent until then.

Perhaps if David didn't ask for something, and said they had come to atone for their sins, the Engineer would have reacted differently.

I think the Engineer's actions make perfect sense, given what David said. If the Engineers are indeed angry at what has become of their creation, what with the destruction of Space Jesus and all that, then he likely thought "You have the f**king audacity to ask me for such a favour? I'll kill you, and him, in the most painful way I can."

    I like this idea

My assumption was that he was pissed at Shaw being hit by one of the mercenaries, maybe he saw a snapshot of what the creations had become and didn't like it

awesome.  this linguist is my new best friend.  though i wish they hadn't revealed this so soon.  the mystery made for great speculation.

Yep and once more fans came up with more interresting ideas...

Who are we talking about, the idiots who wrote the various terrible fake scripts?  I think not.  I'll stick with the actual movie.

Fake scripts? I want to read one :)

Yeah, the look on David's face was classic. Just one of many scenes I'm looking forward to hearing discussed in (hopefully) Ridley's dvd commentary.

That is not what i'm saying...
I dont understand why they made it sound like there was more to it in the interviews.
Feel like it again doing mystery for the sake of mystery to make believe that the movie is again soooooo clever.
I don't need anything answered because so far all i was correct about all i had questions for :)

BTW shadowpred - I was thinking the same thing!

I think David did what he always did in the film - acted within parameters for his own whim and curiosity.  He is ordered by Weyland to "try harder" with their findings to produce results, and promptly, happily infects Holloway, who is an asshole to him, emblematic of how David seems to feel for most humans.  This fulfills his programming objectives.  So does what he says to the Engineer, word for word - but it's how he says it, and when he says it, that he suspects may have an adverse effect not in the humans' favor.

Or maybe he just meant to do as Weyland asked, and was happily surprised.  But judging by his prior conversation with Shaw, I doubt it.  The ambiguity of David in particular is one of the best things about the film and the franchise's future.

Also didn't the Engineer talk (briefly) in that scene, too? I wonder what he said.

He didn't talk, but he sort of smiled like to say - hey that's funny you would be asking for life, because guess what, I'm going to kill all of you!

Obvious from the start that David said exactly what Weyland told him to say. Makes no sense to me why he wouldn't.
I agree and this is something.

The Engineer gave his life to create and Peter Weyland were up to do anything, even take the life from Shaw to live.
It really goes back to Weyland accusing David of not being able to appreciate the gifts he gave him. Such as never growing old and dying. All because he doesn't have a human soul. Yet here is a frail old man not appreciating the gift of life it self given to him from the Engineer that sacrificed himself.

However, oh boy, did the engineer go overboard with the punishment. :P
