Each prize pack includes one fantastic Aliens Colonial Marines hoodie, one Facehugger bandanna and one Xenomorph bandanna, all thanks to the generous people at SEGA. There are no location restrictions, the draw is open to everyone. Sega originally gave these away during PAX East 2012 and press events last April. Who cares? This strikes me as just sour grapes because you didn't win. The contest was open to all Alien fans, not just those who hang around a message board all day.
and how exactly would you define "active users"? where would the cutoff be? Right underneath you, I'm assuming?
I'd like to thank ikarop and the rest of the staff for running a cool promotion to give away completely free, extremely cool stuff. I think its great how we're able to bring new people in to the community with promotions like this, and how we're able to reward the fans who, for whatever reason, aren't a part of our little community. Its great public outreach like this that keeps our community vibrant and growing, and prevents the stagnation and slow death that has plagued other such places on the web. Hopefully we can continue on this path so that the Galaxy will still be around long after everyone in this thread has moved on.
Don't worry mate I'm gonna be around more, just because this comp helped me find the site, doesn't mean I'm a one-hit-wonder per-say. Been using this site as an info center. But I have been doing work for my Architectural Studies and been too busy to flick about online.
Fantastic site and will be chatting as regularly as I can.
0.o So......Who's pumped for Aliens: Colonial Marines aye?
EDIT: I replied to the email but not sure it has gotten through, hope so :/
Congratulations to all four winners
But congratulations to those who won.
- G8RSG1
- Tex
- sjs41390
- Cap. Fitzgerald
Congratulations to them and thanks to everyone who participated! Please note that the winners have 24 hours to claim the prize and e-mail me their details. The correct answers to the quiz were: true, false and true respectively.
Also, if the joystick you mention in your personal text is the one I think it is, congrats! Don't know too many people who've got one of those. Very cool, obscure little collectible.
>_<
I am a member of many forums, and some of them have similar contests. And yes, sometimes they give away prizes approaching $1000. And yes, sometimes it's won my Mr. 1-post. As far as the sites are concerned, they were able to attract new members. You know some of them will hang around after the contest.
Thanks for your warm welcome, Mr Domino and Predaker.
Well, thankfully, the site's administration doesn't agree with you. If they did, this site would be deader than a doornail. How long you've been a fan or how "hardcore" you are doesn't matter at all. What matters is that you're a fan.
If I'm a huge, world-famous BLT connoisseur and someone walks into my sandwich shop and proclaims their love for the BLT, I'm not going to accuse them of not being a true fan simply because they lack the nerdy accomplishments I've made in the field, or the longevity of experience. Instead, I'm going to rejoice at a kindred spirit, a fellow person who enjoys the sandwich I've given my life over to studying, enjoying, and experiencing.
Fandom isn't about playing "mine's bigger" with the new kid on the block - its about sharing something we all love. Not just those of us who've been here longer.
broggyr, I'd like to apologize if my extreme sarcasm didn't come across in my previous post. Until I read Hicks here's response, I thought it was clear and unmistakable.
I have been a fan for a long time but I am fairly new here, as well.
A friend turned me onto this contest; if he hadn't, I wouldn't have even known it was here. Besides, everyone starts at exactly the same place, some just started earlier than others. Who's to say that I won't post again? Oh looky, another post!
Yes, because AVPgalaxy is a closed community. If you haven't been here since the very beginning, we don't want you, and these contests? Only for the old-timers.
That is an absolutely FABULOUS way to run and grow a community! I wonder why Hicks, Darkness, and the rest never thought of it!
That's a rather poor outlook. I've followed this site for a long long time via RSS, twitter and Facebook and check it every day but have only recently officially registered and am not a big user of forums- to my chagrin as IGN's contest previously was only mentioned in the forums so I missed it.
Haven`t noticed it earlier but this was my 5000 post! Now I`m feel I`ll get one of those
Edit: okay... Saturday is fine..
And all the questions should be answered correctly.
I even double checked the wording of each question to make sure you wouldn't pull any tricks.
We're receiving entries non-stop!
