The first official production still for Prometheus has been released. It shows someone in a spacesuit on the surface of a planet under what appears to be a ship.
Stay tuned because 20th Century Fox are showing the first Prometheus footage in a couple of hours at the San Diego Comic-Con. Thanks to ikarop for the news.

"For all we know"...and seeing as we know sweet FA (apart from the Fox official description...and maybe that 'other synopsis') all we have is conjecture based on those leaked pics...I like to have fun with this sort of stuff.
I extrapolate (not always successfully) that the Jockey's are using rapid decompression or sudden total gravity loss to thwart the thief...
But, as you say, maybe not.
It's fun to fanticise, though...
It's the one that makes the most sense as Fox's FIRST official photo...but you're right...it COULD just be totally random.

Plus those look like portable trailers ... on the left (again, looking very much 'today' in standards)
I thought the Iceland shoot was for the the Prologue to life on Earth sequence, and that the fossil dig scene was to take place somewhere else.

are you serious? that's certainly NOT from the movie itself but a snapshot of the site that they're staying at for the time of filming. you will neither see any of these helicopters or people with security vests running around in the movie.

Sorry if I am like the hundreth bloke to tell you this...but you mispelled John Hurt's character's name. His last name was spelled "Kane". So, your username should be KanesSon. Again, apologies if this has already been pointed out.

Yeah I'd go along with that. To be honest the "storm" thing was just a passing thought, I was more focused on the idea this might be part of a crashed or damaged ship, based on the prop from an earlier spoiler looking frayed and like part of some landing gear or a clamp, but I'm convinced the prop and the area I indicated (previous page) are the same thing at least.
You can be right here. In fact I remember seeing the Predators trailer where at the end the main character gets targeted by multiple lasers, while in the movie it was actually just one. That proves that the promotional material (even the video footage) can be altered to serve marketing purposes.
I have said in a previous post, that the planet's landscape in the picture doesn't seem to be LV-426. The way the terrain looks and the complete absence of the rock pillars and arches indicates that this is another planet. The absence of the rocky formations can also be seen in the leaked production/set photos.
Therefore, the "storm" can be just added to the promotional material for people to recognize and say "hey, this looks just like the planet back in the old days". I might be wrong here, and I wish I was, but I do not fully trust the promotional material. Images can be altered, so can videos, to give us a different impression.
I am not saying that the photo is bad in any shape or form, just that we should take into consideration the facts stated above.
If there's a loss of gravity then where's the storm coming from?? Sorry but don't buy that one....yet!
The only thing people might question is the inset picture, which is clearly landing gear of some kind, is frayed at the top but not in the offical photo. This is why I believe the official photo is distorted, or angled, and the inset pic is of landing gear seperated after the vehicle 'crashed' .... perhaps???

I suppose by taking on genetic traits from it's host. I believe one of the original scripts for Alien stated that we were supposed to see a second petrified figure, at around 15ft tall, standing unnoticed in the shadows. It probably intended for this to be the alien which burst from the Space Jockey.

Charlize Theron - one big bitch
So there's been talk about the Space Jockey actually being somebody wearing a 'SUIT' by Ridley and Theron mentioned seeing her skin taken off and her bones revealed and having her suit taken off. She refers to her character as a suit, so I was thinking about er being a business woman AND AN ANDROID. Then others have mentioned, and I agree that IN THE FIRST PIC its obviously a woman in the outfit. Now I know this is a stretch, but does anybody else see the vague impression of an elephantine tube coming from the mouth part of the helmet in the first leaked photo?
So all that conjeture aside, apart from the fact that we can see a person in that pic, does anyone see what I mean about the helmet and tube looking similar to the Space Jockey?
