I haven't seen GBX folks mention it anywhere so far.

As for the praetorians we've already seen, in AvP2 they were on two legs and could pounce (at first), in AvP3 they were on two legs and sprinting of four, but a praetorian never used his head to ram into stuff, that's why the rhino/bull resemblance.

I'm guessing this is the new creature the previews mentioned:

    https://www.avpgalaxy.net/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg190.imageshack.us%2Fimg190%2F4171%2F20110601teaser16.jpg&hash=9b932fa13bd5e6863b0dd0d763575bcee73589e4

    Could be a Praetorian.

front end doesn't look very alien...

    They did.

it sounds as if they are describing a Praetorian,  ::), in one article they even said the crest is reminiscent of the queens. I for one can't picture any Queen bursting into combat. I feel it would be FORCED into combat, or wait until the enemy was closer to the hive. A praetorian WOULD burst into combat via the new bay door it created.

Quote"Aliens" was about well-armed, well-trained soldiers killing hundreds and hundreds of aliens in a hail of bullets.

    eeehhh.

QuoteThe rest of the demo became a fight for survival, as the squad raced away from the hordes, right into the face of a brand new varient of xenomorph: The Crusher. You know how that alien who invested the dog in "Alien 3" was pretty nasty? Well, imagine that dog was a rhino and you're half way there.

sounds kinda dumb. But ill wait to see the footage myself.

    Or its not standing.
It could be sort of squating, legs bent, back straight, feet holding it upside down.

And I think the PR we've seen is a different model. The one in the "new" shot has no sights or such.
No, no. I'm referring to the mass of the Alien relative to the Marine (it's immediate proximity can't make it much clearer), and comparing it to the full scale puppet used in "Aliens". I assume the Marine is of average height and build. Either that, or the Marine is about 7'1" or 7'2".

Honestly, this has become expected. Not wanted, but expected. For over a decade the Aliens have been portrayed in various games with a much shorter, skinnier build and far less physical prowess than what we've seen in the films.
  6. RagingDragon
Well it's exciting to finally get something, tight-lipped bastards :D.

I'm jacked to learn about the different types of Aliens, as long as it doesn't get ridiculous and turn into Left 4 Dead - Bug Hunt Mode.

Edit - LMFAO - From gamespot preview:
Quotethe old buddy armored-head big alien smash down the walls Kool-Aid man style and darted for the first player. The bug grabbed the soldier and devoured him into its gapping maw.

    Prepare for battle.

Yeah. They way the described it did seem a little fast. Like meeting a Queen right off the bat. Idk, I'm gonna stay pumped for this game though.

Yah it was most likely edited. Remember in the E3 demo for AvP2010 how we saw the Pred-Xeno at the end. Same thing here, they edited it around a bit to show the game off more.

Also, I think the Rhino Xeno comparison is really bad. I doubt its gonna be a big fat bulky rhino like Xeno. Its probably gonna be a bigger than average Xeno needs to run on all fours and has a big Queen/Praetorian like head. <-- thats my assumption at least.

I brought up the tail last week too. Sucks but besides that, the hands and the open side mouth, its all cameron. I can live with those if the atmosphere and sound is great, and so far, they nailed them both. Listen to the Alien screeches in the Wii U trailer and tell me u didnt get a little fat and giggily.

you know i said that same thing after i watched the trailer to PREDATORS, and the preds sounded like retarded bear dogs

In a live gameplay demo, we got a chance to see many familiar elements from the movie. It opens with a ship crashing onto the surface of LB-426.

    LB-426?

Sounds strange otherwise. They talking about a Praetorian?  :-\
    Hopefully a Preatorian.
    .....
And I officially let it sink in.
What they described seems like a gigantic "hype up the fans like hell" level.
Like.... It doesn't seem like that could lead into a story at all.
I don't think (and hope) it isn't an actual level in the game and wonder if maybe it just looks better than it seems if it's really being nominated for game of the show.

    Another one from Game Informer:

QuoteIn a live gameplay demo, we got a chance to see many familiar elements from the movie. It opens with a ship crashing onto the surface of LB-426. The player comes to with a fellow Marine asking if he's all right. The response is a quick middle finger.

The Marines start sweeping the area, walking through the medical bay with tubes of facehuggers suspended in fluid. A tracker starts pinging its familiar sound, though it doesn't detect anything. For now. After a few moments, the squad comes upon a reinforced steel door that's been torn open by something with obvious strength. After walking into a ruined operations area, a member of the squad screams as a xenomorph tears through the ceiling and attacks.

First preview I've seen mentioning the demo

    http://multiplayerblog.mtv.com/2011/06/07/aliens-colonial-marines-preview-e3-2011/

QuoteIn the week leading up to E3, I was peppered with enough random "Aliens" gear to choke a xenomorph. But modded nerf guns and bloody doll heads aren't the same as seeing "Aliens: Colonial Marines" in action, which I had the chance to do just a few minutes ago.

Gearbox Software has been developing "Colonial Marines" for years now, but they finally took the wraps off the game at this year's E3. Randy Pitchford, the CEO of Gearbox, is referring to this game as the "true sequel to 'Aliens.'" He was quick to follow that statement up by showing his respect for "Alien 3," while saying that it's a very different movie than aliens. After all, it's just one alien against a group of untrained survivors. "Aliens" was about well-armed, well-trained soldiers killing hundreds and hundreds of aliens in a hail of bullets. And that's definitely the tone of "Aliens: Colonial Marines."

Although the demo started out quietly, with a small squad of marines investigating Hadley's Hope (the ravaged colony from "Aliens"), things quickly went south.

The classic "Aliens" motion sensor is back, with the hitch being that you have to shoulder your rifle while using it. In the demo, the familiar ping heralded certain doom, as the squad was assaulted from floor and ceiling vents by full-sized xenomorphs.

The rest of the demo became a fight for survival, as the squad raced away from the hordes, right into the face of a brand new varient of xenomorph: The Crusher. You know how that alien who invested the dog in "Alien 3" was pretty nasty? Well, imagine that dog was a rhino and you're half way there.

The race from The Crusher led the squad into an armory packed to the gills with pulse rifles and auto turrets. Unfortunately it was also a dead end. Where better to set up an fire-filled last stand with placed turrets and aliens pouring out of the walls? It was around this time that Randy showed off the 4-player, drop-in, drop-out co-op for the game, which runs through the entire campaign and doesn't require a checkpoint reload.

Things ended poorly, predictably, with the massive Alien queen bursting through a steel door, tossing a power lifter like it was a LEGO truck. Yeah, that's aliens for ya. Always ending on a downer.

initial stages but still not bad-again the tail but what ever. i have low standereds and im only saying that not so later im blown outa my seat, i like the graphics i wouldnt even care if they were avp 2 pc graphics i just hope the story is as excellent as aliens itself and would be charmed if the gameplay is deadspace 2-oriented, and fluidity of movement with the charactors and their environment. i dont even know why im blogging

    stay frosty guys

On another note, the new screens are pretty freak'n sick. However, regarding the screen with the inverted Alien behind the marine: I'd say it's pretty damned evident the warriors are indeed a bit too small. Again. :-[

Could be the angle. We probably won't get a good estimation of Size for the Xenos until we get some real gameplay footage. Not just little clips here and there but a straight piece of footage.

According to the french website jeuxvideo.com:
    http://www.jeuxvideo.com/news/2011/00051314-e3-2011-alien-sur-wii-u-n-est-qu-un-projet.htm
ALIENS: Colonial Marines is not yet ready to be confirmed as a Wii U game.
SEGA and Gearbox apparently said in an interview to them that it's only a prototype of what could be done for Wii U leaded by a team of R&D department.
So the game could be for Wii U... or not.

    Some kind of bad translation:

Slipped in a video presented to us as a first line-up of Wii U's game, A:CM is apparently not prepared to land in Nintendo. After the conference of the makers, SEGA & Gearbox delivered us a strange communicate explaining that at the moment the game is 'a considered prototype' by a team of Research & Development. Maybe yes, Maybe not though, we felt that Gearbox has spent too much time in the Normandy Lands of Brother in Arms

You know, it's real chicken sh*t Sega, Gearbox, & Nintendo included A:CM in Wii U's 3rd party reel. For crying out loud, if Gearbox is only prototyping a Wii U version and Sega is simply considering it, then it should NOT have been included. What idiots! >:(
