Fassbender on Prometheus & Aliens

Michael Fassbender, an actor from Prometheus, has been talking about the film and in an interview with MTV he says Prometheus is still an Alien film:

“Oh, absolutely. There’s a definite connecting vein,. You realize you’re part of something else, but it’s definitely in keeping with the old ones.” … “When I read it, I was like, ‘Well, okay, another Alien. Where do you go with this idea?’ And then I sort of read the script, and it’s new, yet it’s in keeping with the old traditions as well. But there’s a whole new revelation within this film.”

With all due respect, you have no idea what you are on about, Scott has stated "the keen fan will notice strands of alien's dna", prometheus will have no xenomorphs directly resembling the one from scotts alien film as such regardless of size, more like just a few small traits as a nod towards the creature. I think we could very well see the space jockeys, but scott and fox are trying to distance themselves from the xenomorph as it's been over exposed by too many films from milking the cash cow of the alien franchise. Space jockeys, have not yet been explored and if anything prometheus will feature them, so with all due respect give it a rest.
With all due respect was there any need for that atall? i didnt say it would feature the aliens .... i was just saying we may just see an xenomorph but not the ones we seen in the movies but a different version... and yes ino we might well see spacejockeys

apologies buddy i come across as aggressive there, no need for that, ii take it back.
no worries just that different people have there own opinions and at the end of the day its just all speculation but we did get confirmation off Fassbender that it is attached to the alien films so we no it is alien related so it could have anything in this

oh it will have aliens in it i bet ya :) but bigger ones? much bigger types of xenomorphs earlier versions perhaps? since scott was on about before talking that he would make earlier versions of the face hugger etc......

Quoteso is this an Alien prequel or not?

We'll never know.  Despite the film now officially and irrevocably being made, I expect it to be unexpectedly cancelled tomorrow.  I think Alien 5 is what Heaven looks like.

I think the questions surrounding the 'birth' of the aliens are enough fodder to have this film be a bonafide and official prequel. This film takes place in the same universe, discovering the same space jockey and goes deeper to figure out who they are and what happened to them. To me, that is in essence, a prequel. Discussing the term Alien...that encompasses quite a bit, space jockeys and all. I feel like people want the word 'alien' in the title to convince them that this is an alien film.

But since the press release for the name change etc we can't be sure if at all it still follows the orignial story that ridley was always mentioning. It might be completly different and not be set in the universe.

    just saying

basically it's going to be like a jaws prequel where we find out jaws was bioengineered by some evil government characters for some reason, and though jaws doesn't turn up until the end and though the main enemy is the evil government and all their early experiments (e.g. crab monster) it is absolutely a film set in the same universe as jaws.

am i the only one who has reached a point in which i cant be arsed to give a shit anymore? Is there a point to continue the same arguments and reach the same conclusions over and over again? Do some members here are really so stupid they cant dicern opinions from facts?
You're definitely not alone. I don't give a rat's ass at this point; I'm much more interested in what Blomkamp is doing with Elysium.

Now I just have to ween myself off checking this particular board, and I'll be better off.

I'm thinking the whole movie will be about Space Jockeys....and right at the end....the Xenos attack....?

On what evidence beyond wild speculation?

    Requesting permission to speculate, sir.

Well, pretty much everything is wild speculation when dealing with the actual content of the film this early in production. Nonetheless my reasoning for such thinking/ speculation was rooted in the way in which Fassbender described the plot structure (building to action climax much like that of Alien/ Aliens) and his certainty when declaring that there will be a definite connection with the Alien films. Beyond that, well it's all just speculation. Without speculation we're just a bunch of people hanging around a forum stating how development A or B is good or bad for a final film we haven't seen or know little about. Not only does that strike me as rather boring but pretty speculative in itself.  :P

But why? (other than your reason of "confussion"). None of these forums would have any type of reply if people didn;t express their thoughts/opinions on a subject. If he wants to let people know what he thinks the film will be like then let him. Otherwise it will be boring place to visit and no one would post comments

It's this particular subject I have a problem with, because we don't actually know enough about the film to form an educated opinion, beyond 'this sounds great/awful'. If you want to say that you think Prometheus will be all about the unicorn from Blade Runner and how it was actually a hallucination projected through time and space by the Alien Queen's hivemind, you're perfectly within your rights to shout it to the heavens.

Just as I'm perfectly within my rights to say that it's silly and isn't based on anything resembling hard facts.

But there are posts like that all over the place. 'I'm thinking it will all be about Aliens and Scott is tricking us', 'I'm thinking the Space Jockeys will be the main focus', 'I think Prometheus is the name of the Derelict'. It's perfectly innocent speculation, but I think that it's contributing heavily to the mass confusion around here.

That said, I realize I came off a little harsh. I just wish we could keep our heads above the water for five minutes.

so your saying is that people shouldn't be allowed to express there thoughts on what the film will be about? its a forum. It's meant for that type of convo.

I think ridley needs to make a press release and set all this sh!t straight because enough is enough, i'm tired of these mothafu#k!n rumors, on these mothafu#k!n Internets.

This is becoming a mind f**k. It's ridiculous. Im just going to sit and wait for a trailer before I believe anymore articles.

    You and me both.

It's a prequel. Then it's not a prequel, but something completely original, then it's something not completely original and somehow connected to the Alien films, yet is still being labeled as a prequel.

I'm sure it will be interesting, pretty entertaining and probably fun but where it fits in or not is just confusing...

The confusion is pissing me off.
