WiiU Controller as Motion Tracker in A:CM?

With the announcement that Colonial Marines will be heading to the WiiU, Nintendo’s upcoming console, there’s a lot of speculation as to how the technology will be taken advantage of, but to us one of the most obvious uses of the WiiU controller’s screen would be the motion tracker.

Of course, in screenshots you can see it’s clearly mounted on the gun, as it was in the game, but it’s definitely a possibility that you could mount it on the gun peripheral. Sure, it’d get in the way of direct sight (as the screen was used in the trailer as a scope, rather than a source of extra data), but I don’t think anyone would sniff at the chance to have a tracker-equipped gun outside of the game.

It’s an exciting time to be a fan of the AVP universe, especially given the thankfully brief period recently where Colonial Marines lost its publisher and was floating in soon-to-be-abandoned development limbo until it was picked up once again. Whether you get your thrills from Time Crisis or http://www.partypoker.fr/, this is such an exciting possibility for the WiiU’s impressive control technology.

Logically, it could even be used for a future Predator-perspective title – heat vision, anyone? Not to mention allowing you to see through the eyes of a Xenomorph, should you wish to do so. It’s possible they might just use it Zelda-style as an inventory screen, but knowing Nintendo and the creativity of developers given toys like this to play with in the past, that’s somewhat unlikely.

We expect great things from the WiiU version of Colonial Marines, and we’d love to hear your thoughts on potential uses of the unique (once again, congratulations Nintendo) controller.
