According to Bloody-Disgusting, Twentieth Century Fox is allegedly having some trouble to find a way to continue the story of Elizabeth Shaw in Prometheus 2 and are taking pitches from any writers. Additionally, Badassdigest reports:
“Fox has been taking many, many meetings with screenwriters (…) screenwriters have been pretty much bringing in their own pitches, not working within an established frame.”
It has been known for a while that Prometheus writer, Damon Lindelof, won’t be working on the sequel. Most recently John Spaihts has also confirmed that he won’t be taking part on Ridley Scotts’s upcoming film. Both writers have stated in the past that there was some talk about what subsequent movies would potentially bring if Prometheus was to receive a sequel.
Damon Lindelof’s comment on these reports can be found here.
Thanks to Gazz for the news.
Collider recently spoke to Damon Lindelof, writer of Prometheus, at a Star Trek Into Darkness press event where he said he would not be writing the sequel:
““The idea of building a sequel to it—from the ground up this time—with Ridley is tremendously exciting. But at the same time, I was like, “Well that’s probably going to be two years of my life.” I can’t do what J.J. [Abrams] does. I don’t have the capability. I’m usually very single-minded creatively. I can only be working on one thing at a time. So I said to him, “I really don’t think I could start working on this movie until I do this other stuff. And I don’t know when the other stuff is going to be done.” And he was like, “Well, okay, it’s not like I asked you anyways.” He and I are on excellent terms and it was a dream come true to work with him.”
I’m sure this will please many as Damon Lindelof is often held responsible for some of the failings of the film. For the full interview click here.
Collider.com has posted up what appears to be one of Damon Lindelof’s scripts for Prometheus entitled “Paradise“, though still unconfirmed by the writer. The document is 115 pages long and shares many similarities with the version that we saw on the screen with the exception of some alternate scenes and dialogue. It also includes some of the viral videos as well as some of the deleted scenes that were released recently via the Prometheus Blu-ray. You can click here to read the script in full.
“Shaw hops behind the wheel — slams the rover into gear, looks over her back shoulder where Fifield turns his attention on them — narrow elongated head that has punched through the helmet of his tattered spacesuit — grey glistening skin — He rises to his full height and — SCREEEE! Shaw throws the buggy into reverse — smashes into Fifield, driving him back into the wall of the airlock — crushes him!”.
Update 17/10/12: Damon Lindelof has now confirmed the authenticity of the script via Twitter.
The Prometheus audio commentary by Damon Lindelof & Jon Spaihts has found its way online via an early copy of the film. In this extra feature, the Prometheus writers talk about pre-production, deleted scenes, Ridley Scott and more. Below you can find our quick summarisation of some of the things revealed in their commentary of the film:

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Fox president of production Emma Watts has confirmed that a sequel to Prometheus will be arriving in 2014 or 2015. The studio is actively pushing ahead with a follow-up starring Michael Fassbender and Noomi Rapace and are talking to new writers because Damon Lindelof might not be available.
“Ridley is incred- ibly excited about the movie, but we have to get it right. We can’t rush it” Fox said.

There’s a fairly interesting interview with Ridley Scott and Damon Lindelof over on SlashGear. Firstly, the subject of a director’s cut was brought up again which backed up what the producer said the other day. Then they mention a dream sequence scene that was scripted but wasn’t filmed. The final piece they mention is a new viral video featuring a transmission which maybe out next week in time for the US release. I’ve included the relevant parts of the interview below:
[Question] You’re known for releasing a director’s cut. Are we going to see a Prometheus director’s cut when this comes to DVD?
[Ridley Scott] No, I think this is a good length. But that said, I think that now the fashion of actually putting out a couple of discs is here to stay, which will comfort you on all other kinds of conversation about how the movie was made. All you’ll really do is see extended scenes in the menu. Other that that I think this is a pretty good length, the dynamics are about right.
Some new videos have appeared over on TrailerAddict. Firstly, there’s B-Roll footage which shows the crew filming key scenes from the film. Then there’s video interviews with Ridley Scott, Jon Spaihts, Damon Lindelof, Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Idris Elba, Guy Pearce, Charlize Theron and Logan Marshall-Green.

Io9 got to chat with Jon Spaihts, who wrote five drafts of Prometheus, before it was handed off to Damon Lindelof. In this interview, the Prometheus writter talks about his original script for the film, working with Ridley Scott and sci-fi in general.
“The Alien universe has its own rules, and they extend to character archetypes. The android is one of these. It’s always a challenge to honor the archetype and still find something new to do. Ridley wasn’t interested in repeating his own work or others’. He was always reaching for the new idea.“
In related news, there’s a brief new interview with Prometheus concept designer Daniel Simon. You can watch it here.
