That's the point, they weren't in the film (aside from appearing in the background in like a single camera shot, and one of them still cropping up in the credits). Their roles were completely cut from all versions of the film.
The bit from the trailer with what's-her-face-army-girl firing the .50 cal on the roof of the Hummer was from a scene involving the kids that got cut.

It wasn't pointless in that it did at least fix the enormous goof whereby the Predator spaceship at the start looks completely different to how it appeared at the end of
AVP.
