So is Alien: Covenant an official thing now?  Is Alien: Paradise Lost officially, ehem, lost?

Not official yet.

It is now...

Does this means Prometheus will be repackaged as Alien: Prometheus for continuity sakes

New Synopsis

QuoteRidley Scott returns to the universe he created in ALIEN with ALIEN: COVENANT, the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with PROMETHEUS — and connects directly to Scott's 1979 seminal work of science fiction. Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the "synthetic" David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.

It makes sense with a new crew coming in to not have a human around (initially) who has a whole movie worth of experience with alien DNA, rape worms, Space Jockeys, and black goo. Let these new guys experience some new dread with creepy David not letting on as to what is what.

I expect so. But then I've thought that since the Paradise Lost title was announced.

Once again. I feel that If Ridley's team choose something like Covenant or Paradise it would be better. However they may be planning to use "Paradise" or Paradise Lost" as the title of the third film.

I think so too. There will likely be some sort of reveal. It would be great if the movie opens with Rapace calling the human race to see this place or maybe David is experimenting on her and that will be the reveal. Or maybe he murders her,.. Lots of possibilities.

I think the clue is the fact Covenant is a colony ship. I wonder if David somehow makes a deal with the Engineers to bring human hosts to paradise in order for them to realise a new biological weapon. Perhaps Shaw is the progenitor for these experiments?

The possibilities are endless really...

Well maybe a long long time has passed since Prometheus. Shaw could be long dead!

My bet is that Rapace ends up being the dead engineer in the derelict. David convinces her to attach his head to his body, overpowers her, experiments on her once they get to the engineers home planet.

I really don't want that to be the case.

The idea of a colony ship is interesting to me! What does that mean? A bunch of people that live on a ship together or what?

I honestly expect her fate to be a plot point for the film.

In most sci-fi it's a ship sent off into space to find a planet and build a life there with the contents of the ship, usually using the ship itself to construct the buildings and etc.
