Although I'm satisfied with the present, were I forced to choose another decade, I'd say the 90's hands down. It was indeed a simpler time. I would've said early 2000's but I'd prefer a time before everything changed (2001 and all that).
I remember it was just a good time to be alive. There was really good music. Movies like Independence Day and Twister were showing us grand scale stuff and visuals we'd never seen before. The world seemed relatively quiet, compared to modern times. Decent medical knowledge. Great games like Ocarina of time and Super Mario 64. There was plenty of work, at least in my area. Gas was cheap and technology wasn't the center of the universe. Each household in my area had one phone, it was big, corded, and screwed to the kitchen wall. Calls were scarce, but important. Most often the phone was just used to arrange gatherings like church dinners and meeting friends for basketball. Young people like me (at the time) spent their days off playing in the woods, or fishing, riding our bikes, listening to music in the garage, weightlifting and playing guitar. Always competing with each other of course, especially for chicks. Not glued to the television and xbox live. And no spongebob on Tivo. We had rabbit ears on the one old tv in the living room, and 1 hour on Saturday morning to enjoy the Looney Tunes, hoping to catch a Road Runner cartoon. The scent of fresh cut grass and the old Murray Lawn mowers blaring away is what greeted us when we went outside. But most importantly, I'd love to once again enjoy the fellowship of all the wonderful people that have passed on since then.
So yeah, the 90's for me.
