Local Trouble

Bet you his 20/20 hindsight is telling him that playing a corpse in Alien 3 would have been preferable.

ummm micheal u havent realized that even your character's story was shit when u said his lines??

You don't always get a script in advance and, even if they did, there were a number of story elements which were moved around or deleted completely. Xhan's outlined several of them.

Wouldn't be surprised if some/most/all of that happened after voice recording.

Not off-hand, no. If/when you see Xhan post, look up their profile and go to 'show posts'. Should be there.

He probably did but a paycheck is a paycheck.
Or he could've just been sold on the original concept art, the former Battlestar Galactica writers, and the general enthusiasm for the project from GBX...just like the fans.  I wouldn't be surprised if he signed the contract when A:CM was being proposed to everyone as an entirely different game than the one that eventually came out.

^^This^^

Michael Biehn's involvement happened late in production.

The Thing videogame for the PS2 was simply awesome and the second part got canned but there are videos of the gameplay and concept art in Youtube. They should remake the sequel of the first game with Carpenter supervising it.

And regarding ACM, the ironic thing is that the game actually sold well. I haven't seen used copies of the game and retailers tell me used copies of it are difficult to find.

The Thing game is a really, really cool idea that just couldn't fulfill its own promises due to technology limitations at the time. The first 1/3 or so of the game totally rules, and when the game introduces human enemies the game completely nosedives and never recovers.

I totally agree that the sequel idea looked completely kickass and I'd love it if that project got "thawed out" and completed.

First Blood

I want John Carpenter's gamer tag.

So...since this interview is 99.9% about Far Cry 3 BD, it is my duty to say that the game is awesome and everyone who enjoyed 80s action/sci-fi needs to play it. For God's sake you come in gun's blazing to a Predator reference.

And The Thing on PS2/Xbox is one of the benchmarks for licensed games I think. It built on a story and also tried to make a completely new gameplay mechanic, which worked SOMETIMES and was cooler in 2002 than it is now, but it's still a fun game for the most part, and it is fairly long and substantial. I mean, even without it being The Thing related, I think it's a pretty f**king good survival horror game for the time. I'd love to see an HD remake on XBLA or something.
