Let's see what happens. I remember when the Friday the 13th remake had a sequel release date for August 2010 and nothing happens. I still yet to see TCS 3D, but I might see it on DVD.

Why are they calling it part 4. It just shows how stupid the people involved in these movies are now days.

Anything new with this movie? I remember Lionsgate saying that they wanted the next movie to be out by next year and it looks like that's not happening now.

Poster has been released.

A prequel to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre which will explore the origins of the horror icon in the 1970s, the story will begin with the Leatherface character in his teenage years. He resides in a mental institution until he joins a pack of fellow patients who all break out and go on the run from the authorities. The film will mark the eighth overall entry in the franchise, which currently includes, in addition to Tobe Hooper's original, three sequels, a remake, a prequel to the remake and a modern-day "direct sequel."

Stephen Dorff is the lead.... I've not seen him in anything since Blade 1 and one of the Alone in The Dark movies.

I've been meaning to watch the original mainly due to the large cult following it has. It's just so hard for me to get into new movies unless they're...well...coming soon or newly released, because then the ads are all over my face.

So is the movie is a prequel to the original movie or is it link to the recent movie from over a yea ago? This franchise has became so confusing now.

Shots From the Filming of 'Leatherface'

QuoteThanks to eagle-eyed reader Mike M., we now have a series of behind-the-scenes shots from the filming of Leatherface, the prequel to Tobe Hooper's The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, all of which comes courtesy of the film's producer, Christa Campbell.

The current incarnation of Leatherface is rated R "for strong bloody violence, disturbing images, language and some sexuality/nudity." Millennium Films is listed as distributor, although Lionsgate had originally been set to release the film. No word on where this stands.

Could this actually be a good Leatherface film for once?

Probably not, it's been done for over 2 years now and I heard there was a ton of reshoots. Plus it's Direct to Video. This is the First Massacre film to not have a theatrical release. Me, I'm vary excited for this still. :)

I saw the film at Grimmfest and you'll all be shocked to hear it's not very good...

I agree, not absolutely horrible to me, but mediocre.
