Now that sort of confirms things we'd been speculating on for some time. Clearly something drastic was altered, script wise, in shooting. Let the more measured speculation begin...

That looks like egg-morphing to me.

What? No, I am not fan-wanking, just adjusting my pants. ;)

Not necessarily. We knew from the dialog that the other engineers had cacked it due to infection. It just wasn't shown on film.

I always thought it was odd the holes on the pods were so small. Guess this makes more sense.

Are we assuming that the bursters where deacon-like 'ultramorphs'?

Seriously, I'm lost with this stuff.

The covers were transparent on the the Engineers' sleep chambers so it would have been nice to see David 8 looking into just one of them and seeing the three other chest-bursted Engineers.

Well one thing is now plainly obvious; cryo-sleep doesn't do shit to stop chestburster from doing their job.

Looks like something violently opened its ribcage from the outside. Like it pierced his chest with its hands and then pulled to the sides.

but the damage on the transparent shell tells otherwise.

except your talking about how they made this prop and the fake injury.
