Love all the extended engineer stuff. It gives them so much more character. Only thing i disliked was the alternate opening scene... But the talking and this makes it look much more intelligent.

It's in the Bluray (and IIRC he smells the book after he picks it up).

I think the CG in the actual filmed scene needed some work.  And I can see how it might alienate and they went for practical.  I was okay with the film version.

But, I do think the design work and development was absolutely stupendous.  I would've liked to see more of that.  And I think they could've perfected the creature for the shoot.

I suppose a sequel will go further off the edge with this stuff, which is good.
