Admit it. The directors cut versions are the true ...

Guts:
Anyone who says that the theactical versions are the true versions then look at aliens. Even cameron preferes the directors cut version. theactitcal cuts are basically the editied shortened version of the movie that the studio wanted.

Nightmare Asylum:
Actually, I think I remember Cameron saying that the theatrical cut is a tighter film. And thinking about it, I kind of agree.

In my opinion, based on what I know about the cuts, I prefer the theatrical cuts for the first and fourth. I watch the extended for the second because it has a lot of great elements (and, well, its the only one I own), and I prefer the Assembly Cut of the third.

But really, its all a matter of preference.

chupacabras acheronsis:
Aliens' director cut gets a pass because it doesn't contradict anything.

SiL:
Scott considers the theatrical cut the true version of the film. There is no DC of Alien3. JPJ also considers the theatrical cut of Alien Resurrection the proper version.

This entire thread is pointless.

SM:
To put it kindly...

And the one directors cut that is preferred by the director, is in fact a 'Special Edition' rather than a 'Directors Cut'.

Go figure.
