Why was Millburn so stupid? - Fifield/Millburn dem...

Salt The Fries:
Single most stupid character in the movie, and what a disgrace to his more well-known and respected father, Timothy.

That scene could've drawn some inspiration from Dallas airlock scene and also force the characters under false readings, to go where they should not go.

I'm also aware Scott and Lindelof aimed for some comic relief which could've existed if the scene was done the way I suggested anyway, but I'm going to quote someone's apt remark:

--- Quote ---I'm sorry to have to draw a comparison to Alien here, but for a lesson in how to develop funny and convincing redshirts, look no further than Brett and Parker.
--- End quote ---

Fifield apart from scanning the perimeter with his devices didn't amount to anything meaningful, but he at least did that, yet Millburn (like Fifield too to a lesser extent) was just there to die, and nothing else.

Why?

This was most off-putting moment of the movie, apart from underdeveloped Weyland company / character story arc and too quick of a cut from caves to the spaceship (plus some omissions from the opening scene and elaboration on Holloway's and Fifield's mutation) - one of the main flaws of the movie. Millburn's reaction to xenocobra was on pair with Brad Dourif's "beautiful butterfly" remark in Resurrection...

Why???

SM:
Why not?

Hardly think you can blame an actor for doing what a script and director tells him to do.

robertmartin:
I agree. Can't blame the wonderful actor (who has a glowing CV). Criminally underused on this feature sadly, i think and feel the characters being there was so clunky it hurt. Naturally, there is always going to be the first victim. The Drew Barrymore character of Scream who does the stupid action of running up the stairs instead of running out of the house and away from the killer. Its a movie convention. But yes, a lot of what surrounds the demise of M&F is ridiculous.

SM:
The only issue I have with it - they have a 3D map and get lost??

I was confused when Shaw and co we're running to the vehicles to escape the storm, because I thought I saw Fifield and Millburn in the background, as well as Shaw saying something along the lines of "They've (Millburn and Fifield) already left".

I was surprised when they got back and were asked where M&F were.

Max Powers:
Why was Fifield smoking space weed inside his space suit?

Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy?

Oh because he had a mohawk and tattoos. I guess that was why.
