i think most response miss the point of question. if the engineers were instead predators i think prometheus wouldnt be as good as avp in areas of script/characters/ etc and it still be full of plot holes/logic holes/science holes and people doing stupid things.
prometheus would still have better viauals and tone though, plus michael fassbender's character

if prometheus had predator instead of engineers it would work better as avp part 2 imo

Well even if engineers were replaced by predators, Prometheus would not be better than AVP.
Prometheus plot/story, characters and direction suck too much to be saved by such a trick.
There are just too many disapointing aspect in Prometheus.
However, at least it would have been more fun to see the predator wipe out humans as it won't do it in the Jason style but use its advanced weapons and its hunter skills to do that.
 Moreover, it would probably not kill Weyland, David and Shaw as they were not armed thus not a match for him. Though it could make an exception for David. And at least we would know why it does that as it would consider armed human as mere preys.
And last but not the least it won't leave to earth to wipe out mankind but to start a giant safari.

Not only is it "too harsh", it's actually quite silly. Prometheus is a superior movie in almost every way (not just in terms of AVP but in terms of 50% of the Alien movies too).

Gotta disagree with that one.  Prometheus MIGHT be on par with Alien Resurrection as both films have a silly premise and an overall bad script.  But in my book Alien Resurrection gets more credit because it is trying to be silly on purpose in places whereas Prometheus just comes off that way even though it wants to be serious.  Even the motif of faith in Alien3 is done far better in Fincher's film than it is in Prometheus.  There is really nothing "superior" about Prometheus in comparison to any of the other Alien films except for the budget that it took to make it.

Now that I think about it if you slightly changed the story from the creation of mankind to the evolution of it, it old actually be quite interesting, though I wouldnt say that it would make Prometheus better though :/
