Any map, AND ESPECIALLY a map meant to explain coordinates/direction/destination to an alien race, you need to use a known point of reference. If the Space Jockey race was leaving "clues" for humanity to follow, it's map would be based upon some point of reference, which would be easily understood by humanity. The obvious point of "reference" would be Sol (our Sun). Without a point of reference, from which humanity could make associations from, the map could represent ANY arbitrary stellar system. Why is this so hard to understand?

Quote from: OpenMaw on Dec 19, 2011, 11:18:49 PMSo? Most planets have moons.
Quote from: Ash 937 on Dec 19, 2011, 10:37:41 PMAre you guys sure that this is the right footage to the film? The trailers for the other Alien films had at least a sign of the xenomorph in it. There wasn't anything remotely resembling aliens in this teaser.

Quote from: szkoki on Dec 19, 2011, 11:43:32 PM1 thing got me....we had seen Shaw alive in some screencaps and they had actions in it and the exploration and so on...but we have to admit that Shaw will have something in her belly probably an alien lifeform...so wtf? The main character will die or that footage is part of the end of the movie and why would you put such kind of footage in the trailer spoiling the death of one of the main characters....now im just not sure she is going to die but then what the hell is happening to her???

However, I do believe that the assumption is correct, given all the information we have received so far. The archaelogical team finds "something" that points them to a particular interstellar system. I PRESUME that the "hologram" we glimpse in the trailer is a graphical representation of just such a "map". If I am wrong, then I will be very surprised.
