It would be interesting if everybody played the second game on Hard as their first experience of anything Dead Space related. Then after playing the first game or the prequel seeing how scary in comparison they thought it was.

I still think a huge part of Dead Space 2 not feeling as scary for alot of people was that you knew what to expect (alot of the time anyway). I never found the first game that scary once i'd been playing for 5 hours or so and I think that feeling just continued when going into the second game.

the vast majority of people will play the games in order so I guess we'll never know. You'd be an idiot to play the second game first anyway because of all the spoilers and plot it would reveal from the first game.

I completed both on nightmare, you really don't have to try 'convince' me that I'm wrong.
I have my opinion and you have yours.
Leave it at that.
buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut just to point out I actually enjoyed the backtracking as it allowed it to be more imersive. In an actual scenario, you are unlikely to get everything on your first trip somewhere, and it will leave you dreading going back the second time. But like I said, you have your take, and I'll stick to mine.

Convince you? Im not even directly responding to your posts, im just posting my musings on the two games. The only part of my last three posts that was a direct response to you was the first bit in my second post because you had replied to my post as though it was aimed at you, which it wasnt.

Why get so defensive and then get all childish with "sarcastic" quotation marks and "buuuuuuuuuuuuuts".

My first post about enjoying both games equally wasnt a response to you at all. Infact at that point I hadnt even seen your post, It was a response to Scarhunter and Xenokiller over their preferences for the games. Then you chimed in saying "I wasnt saying I didnt enjoy both of them but.....". It wasnt even aimed at youre post but seeing as you had made your opinion known, I decided to reply to that with what I thought.

Get over yourself boy.

I felt Dead Space 1 was scarier mainly for 2 reasons. It created more suspense, and used alot of scary ambient noises throughout to keep you creeped out.  The feeling of being in a small place, and knowing no one is alive, and anything moving is out to kill you etc.

Deadspace 2 was scary in a different way, but you got used to it. In this one, they bombarded you with alot of enemies at once, fast enemies. So youd be scared trying to take all on, but after a while i seemed to get used to this. It had faster gameplay, less like oldschool horror games (whereas Deadspace 1 had all the old school horror survival feel) where an area took quite sometime backwards n forwards. You only ever went forwards in deadspace 2, quickly transitioning into some sort of action based scenerio like the crashing train etc. Scariest moment on Deadspace 2 (i havent completed it, bout 3 chapters off the end... courtesy of the Ps breaking a while back) i felt was the first time you go against those velocorapter type necros. The way the room is deadly silent, and then you see a head pop out. Scary shit. I also liked the level where you heard something running all around you, n they really milked it until something charged at ya.

The stalkers, and i dont know how many times this has been said, are the scariest things ever created by Visceral Games. They are the reason i can't finish my LP of DS2.

Aye, those Stalkers were total pricks when I first encountered them, and they still keep me on edge. I'm still disappointed they weren't included in the multiplayer mode. I bet it would've been a blast to play as them.

Leaper is another favorite Necro of mine.

Heck maybe play as a brute or tormentor.  ;D

Brutes in MP would be ganged up on so much. The humans do nothing but spawn camp next to the vents and spam stasis now.

A motion comic prequel? Looks interesting especially the necros look, it actually gives me a little faith about this ice planet thing
