What's your favorite Predator weapon? (from the movies Predator, Predator 2 and AVP)
Personally it's quite hard for me to choose between the Wristblades and the Combistick.
The Wristblades are awesome, but I really liked how the Predator owned the guys in the meat locker with his Combistick.
Erm...erm...oh my God! There's just too many choices! I'd like it'd be a tie between Spear, Wrist Blades and Shoulder Cannon.

Shoulder Cannon, as always. I also liked the wrist gun in Predator 2.
I think Id have to go with wrist blades, preds gettin up close and personal with their kills is always fun to see.
I have to say a mix between the Speargun or the PlasmaCaster, and in second the CombiStick.
It's wierd we never actually saw the speargun. I haven't gotten the new P2SE yet, does it mention the speargun anywhere on that?
I have to check, I do have it but they only show the projectile not the actual gun. I suppose we can say it came from his wristbands, but I think the hunter only uses that weapon in that scene.
Though I like the gun from AVP2, the Yautja or Hish example of the sniper rifle.
turns out they don't even include the wrist band cannon either.
I'm rather fond of the wrist blades, though the self destruct devise is pretty nice. ;D
Well I guess I'm the only one that like the shurikens then. :-[
I liked them too! A lot nicer looking than the disk.
Finally voted, I went with the Wristblades.
Personally I hate the shuriken... Its just a rip off of the disk. It basicaly does the same thing but it doesnt look as cool!
I didn't know there was so much Shuriken hate. As for those of you calling it a "rip off" of the disc, I have to disagree. Shurikens have been used by the Japanese as a concealed weapon since like .. forever.
I thought the Predator's shuriken was awesome especially the little flip/flick thing he did with his wrist.
The disc vs. shuriken debate is pretty much a matter of preference. They both accomplished the same task (cutting/slicing through something). It just seems like the shuriken was more practical because it is lighter, smaller, and collapses.
I loved them. I liked 'em better than the disk! :o
I didn't. I didn't like the Japanese influences at all in AvP. Give me the Disc any day.
Do we think Anderson took the Samurai/Japanese influences too far?
Yeah, there was no need for it. He changed too much about the Predators.
I thought it was a nice twist on the disk. Although, I agree, don't like what PA did to the preds (or tried to do)

What was Japanese other than the shuriken?
The jump at the end as well with the Queen.
But the Japanese Angle was Anderson's vision for the Predators.
I think it was more Anderson attempting to include the Yautja culture.

As far as the Disk and Shuriken, it doesn't really matter to me. Could have both on your arsenal.

well the Predators aren't ninjas or assassins in any way. They're hunters as originally shown in the movies. Well maybe a bit assassin. On the original topic my fav weapon is the combi spear hands down. ;D
I say their weapon fludity, agility, acrobatics, and masters of all forms of combat is similar to samurai. But is still very unique and is only 2nd to jedi and Spartans IMO. ;D (well Preds and Spartans are pretty equal)

Their style is not a "space samurai's" one like shown in the comics (and the one PA tried to introduce into AVP, mixed with a Ninja element like the Shuriken, and an assasin-like element like the noose).
Don't get me wrong though I really liked the Shuriken.
I believe the Predator's style is one of a mysterious "extraterrestrial hunter's", as seen in the 1st and 2nd Predator movies. That does include agility of course (Predators are quite agile as shown in P1 and P1) but not as in who knows what samurai moves.
But if you want to compare the Predator to a Samurai or a Ninja, the Predator is more Ninja-ish. Ninja didn't have the code of honor Samurai had, they sneaked and killed from behind, just as the Predator did a few times in the movies. (When he killed Blain for example) Ninja where also clever and sneaky, like the Predator.
The only thing that's Samurai-like in the Preds are their weapons: Samurai had the best swords, just as Predators have the best/most advanced weapons for hunting.
I could live with the ninja similarities. but the Preds have their own unqiue martial art, hopefully in AVP2 we'll see more of it.

I think...I'm going to have to go with the Shuriken. I mean, it's like a cooler disk, it can be used as a close combat weapon and it makes an awesome sound when it opens. :P
Well when it comes to explanations, I chose the Wristblades not only because it's awesome, but it is also the most essential weapon in my opinion; it cannot be lost as easily as the spear or disk or w/e, unless the Predator looses his arm. AND it's old school!
I like the option of different size blades too. They seem to be quite advanced, what with being reversable and etc.
The arm cannons my second fav weapon though. One thing I noticed was in Pred 1 when Jesse Ventura was shot by the cannon his entire chest exploded but, In Pred2 when a jamaican got shot there was no blood at all ???
also Ventura's neck got hit by something, for P2 in the commentary they had to cut some gore out since it was in bad taste and would have gotten a higher rating, so that might be an explanation.
I heard they had to cut several minutes of footage in Pred2 to avoid a NC-17 rating :o
I wish they included those scenes in the special edition, it might be the reason we never seen the speargun in P2.

We saw the speargun in Predator 2. It was wrist-mounted, not that silly rifle thing you get in the games.
We didn't see it. All we saw was the spear...
Since the spear wasn't in there, I said Wrist Blades
Wristblades from AVP all the way.
They come out so far and can do some real damage.
You really get to see how they scale with everything if you get the figures from AVP Series 1.

The pc game rocks. Story modes fun and all but, the online is the best.

i learn fast i have a controler that a play station style so i can play games like its play station 2 or some thing like that lol so im prepared lol
Net Gun is coolest, but Shoulder Canon and Wrist Blades are nice too.
Definently the netgun. Its just a gruesome harsh weapon that dices your enemys. Totally underrated.
Shuriken owns i think, coz its a disc but with spikes sticking out owns all but maybe not plasma caster i think :)
Disc.
I hated the shuriken. It looked too flimsy and clean. Way too clean. All the silver stuff the preds had in avp made me cry. It was like PA wanted the predators to be big space samurai with silver weapons and armour, make stuff bigger and put spikes on it. Spikes=12 year olds drooling.
The disc was a solid, bladed weapon that could be used as a melee weapon far more than the shuriken...
Plus it made an awesome noise when it was activated.
Close in range deadly on contact it has to be the wrist blades.
I have to go with the disk. It's my favorite weapon playing Aliens vs Predator 2 online. Although I do love the shoulder cannon as well. It's just not that effective playing online. I should probably base my opinion on the movies rather than the games. I just play the AvP 2 game relentlessly.
I don't know. So many to choose from. I love the wristblades, the shuriken, the combistick and the plasma cannon above all else. I would probably have to say wristblades.
I like the Wristblades the most but that whip in the new one looks cool.

Very hard to choose. The Plasmacaster is my favourite, I just love how it looks and the sounds it makes as well as the targetting lasers/triangles..The Disc is a close second, but all the Pred's armaments are superb, IMO.

I always thought the plasma caster was cheap I mean they don't even need to aim it , if it was hand held I would vote for it. but it's not :-\

Wristblades by far, they look cool and sound cool. I'd be more scared of an 8 foot tall alien running at me with those than one firing a plasma caster at me.

The most interesting are shoulder cannon of the second Predator, noticeably differing that in the first film was, and a smart disc. Voted for shoulder cannon.
The weapon of the predator which I like it is Shoulder cannon, but I admit that I have a weak for Wristblades. ;D

I like the Shoulder Cannon as it is the best weapon of the Predator I could think of.
The disc and the shuriken are my faves so far. I think they should incorporate the Glaive and the Maul from Concrete Jungle into a new film. They were both mean ass blades.

It's tough. I have to go with the extended wristblades, the naganita and the maul, the last two from Predator: Concrete Jungle. Up close and personal is the only way to go.

I think that the disc is pretty cool, since it can cut through several dead cow carcasses with barely any effort, and without being slowed down at all.
I love the Shiruken. It reminds me of the 'Glave' in Krull and I've always wished to have one ever since I saw that film. Imagine my glee when I see a Predator with something similar!
Btw, I won't say what my favorite Predator weapon of all is, because I might get into trouble. Lets just say it's x-rated.

Yeah, but the Wrist blades are the weapon that all Predator's use. It is their trademark thing.
Wolf's whip is just his signature weapon, not a weapon universally used by all Predators. That being said, I've never liked the Wrist blades in movies since Predator 1.

I vote for the Wristblades (hands down) when you come down to your out of ammo and projectiles predator can fight like we have for thousands of years with wristblades.and can make sure the alien is dead after shooting it or severly injuring the enemy.

I hear ya. I'm not so keen on the release of the AVP: R movie but I am sooooo damn excited on the release of NECA's Masked and Unmasked Versions of Wolf Predator and guess what? The double shoulder cannons are fully articulated!
Can't wait for Hot Toys Wolf Predator either, and double shoulder cannons do look cool. I don't know about Predator 3 but what I do know is that AVP: R should be proud that they have introduced the concept of double shoulder cannons.
Yep, they sure have picked up the bar on that one by inventing a cool new idea, though not really new, just an extra one. thers also that way cool (alien tail?) whip too.
But wow TWO cannons, what a cool idea, making Wolf just that much more to die for.

Yeah, when the movie is a success, the Strause Brothers should savor that success and people would be thankful that they had invented these cool ideas. I don't think the whip is made from an alien tail, it even got a handle on it's own (see Hot Toys Wolf Predator) and the edges were sharp to slice off the head of an Alien.
I would ask for anything especially Wolf Predator, just like you! I want NECA now and it has fully articulated shoulder cannons!

Well, the Predators have another spear-type weapon that is different from the combistick and it is called Naginata which is a much more effective scimitar that is probably immune to Xenomorph blood. I didn't read the comics so I don't know I just got my sources from the Predator sites that I find.

It's nothing, glad I could lend a helping hand. You can get the Predator comics from eBay if you feel that you could trust those sellers. But other than that, the information is being passed around and around until I get it on the Predator fan sites.

Btw, I've always had a problem with ultimate this, ultimate that, bceasue there's always somethieng even more badass waiting out there..no such thing as ultimate, at least that's what i think. But Preds are pretty much high up there.

I'm gonna have to go with the shoulder cannon because it's a long-distance weapon, it goes with the infra-red vision, and it's distructive
I would pick the combi stick. Its so powerful, a clubbing weapon, stabbing weapon, acid resistant, and in the comics and books, can shoot metal projectiles. Awesome ;D

Who knows, maybe Predator 3 would feature swords in the Predator's arsenal. And actually, there are Female Red Samurai Predators too and they also carry swords along with them.

My personal favourite Pred weapon has been the Shuriken ever since the scene in AVP where Scar kills a facehugger and drone with one ^^
Would be cool if they had a shoulder mounted Shuirken launcher, something like the plasma caster.
Disc is pretty sweet. Its a good hand to hand combat weapon and excellent long renge weapon

The shoulder-gun. The Predator can use its blades for splatter and the spear for some awesome mid-range combat, but once it starts shooting plasma it becomes the focus of attention.

I don't know why people are so against the shuriken. One of my favorite parts in either of the AVP movies is the shuriken are thrown ate an alien. Especially in AVPR when wolf kills two aliens in the hospital at the same time with the shuriken and then of them hits the girl and sticks her to the wall.

anyone ever noticed this....
in the trailer for predator 2 the sequence in which the pred throws his disc at gary busey in the meat locker...the disc moves very fast and the whole sequence is really good..in other words the scene is fast...the disc filys through the meat quicker,the sound effects are quicker and it looks very realistic.
in the final film the whole sequence has been slowed down and doesnt look half as good in my opinion.its in slow mo and its pretty obvious if u compare the two..check it ;)

Mm, I can see that, now that you mention it. Well as I said, it's never seen in the film, but I imagine it was desgined that way by Stan Winston Studios so ya.
I've always had the idea that the speargun was very similar to a human sniper rifle, such as having a long range scope and a large stock at the end.

I like the sniper design; seems more practical than the smaller, Halo-ish one.
Also the sniper style in the games is more 'hunterish' than the covenant elite plasma rifle style.

I remember how cool I thought his cannon was when I first laid eyes on it in the theater. His wrist-blades terrified me though. I remember thinking how one would have to be really close to the Predator for him to use them.
I've said it before, but the netgun. Under rated yet extremely powerful and it just dices up the enemy. A good 'you stay the f**k over here against this wall' weapon. The whip I vote as best new weapon, but functionality is limiting.
I just thought of a weapon where a predator holds dual scythes, but like the handle the size of a pistol.

for me it has to be predator vision them,stupid special agents in p2 think they have the predator,it being able to see in one spectrum that being infrared,wrong that predator helmet can see in many spetrums,their weaponry is awsome to quote the american idiom,my belief is when they need a specific weapon to do a specific thing,they create and build, it astonishing race.
Shoulder Cannon is great. When I first saw this weapon I thought it was cool. And the way it sounds. Brilliant. ;D
Shoulder cannon is great, but I think the predator character fits better with futuristic versions of primitive weapons. I like the wrist blades best of all. They suit the character perfectly!
What makes the wristblades futuristic?
The way they move mechanically, like sliding out. Although that is sort of my point. I think the Predator works best with as little technology as possible.

I love the Wrist-blades and Shoulder-Cannon above all else. But at the end of the day I would have to say Shoulder-Cannon because it makes the Predator more alien and it is the most futuristic weapon out of the lot.

Everythin about the predator weaponary is just fantastic, the shoulder cannon for its ebergy hitting power of plasma, the wrist blades, spear, net gun, combo stick its just unreal! But my fav would def be the soulder gun, for its accuracy, laser pointing ability, plasma energy ammo, its just wicked technological weaponary!
I love smart disc, thigs that this weapon did with meat and Keys (also a meat ;D) were great. I do also like wrist gun, how it was burning through harrigan. To bad that they only appeared once i hope that will make comeback in Predator 3. I do hate this stupid whip from AvPr, just like whole AvPr to be honest.
The wrist gun was one gadget, too many. All we need is a caster, wristblades, and spear. Anything more than that is overkill.
Wrist gun was sort of projectile weapon of last resort. It wasn't too much and was definately better and more "Predator" than hand held plasma caster.
How? The pistol was merely caster, hand-held.
It is all about detiles. For me best pred weapons are those that can only be used by pred in its full potential. Hand held, PC is dumbed down to plasma shoting shotgun for redneck Dallas. And if it was supposed to be used hand held, then why bother and mount it on shoulder in first place?
Well the impression I got from AvP:R was that Wolf unmounted it because the targeting system was trashed and the gun itself would only be of use to him if he turned it into a handgun.
Wolf is an idiot to cary weapon with him which can be used by one o prey race to blast beautiful whole in his stomach. Show me just one weapon in P1,P2 and even AvP thaw could have been used properly by other creature than pred, against one.
Well if he had no other option...
Well AvPr is juts a bad film with big issues and plot holes. Unbalanced and badly done.

To be honest i was witing for this argument :) Harrigan did kill Pusyface with disc, but he never used this weapon properly and in the way it was ment to be used. He basicly used katany to choop meat. Of course you can do so but it dosen't mean that this is the perpous the katanas was made for ;)

BTW doesn't the Ceromonial blade in AVP count as a weapon?

Ya, when I said mid-range combat weapon, I was referring to what you said here. And effort or not, Harrigan was still using the weapon the way it could be used.
But still he was improvising and couldn't get it work so smoothly like Pussyface did in meat storage. And didn't even tryed to throw it. Redneck from AvPr was useing caster with highest efficiency, while in my opinion he shouldn't be able to do so with true pred weapon.
I don't imagine firing a gun is all that difficult once you've figured out how to arm it and you can aim properly.
And Harrigan wasn't improvising. I don't see where you're getting that from, since the disc, like I've said countless times before, can be used in two ways.
Somehow Harrigan don look like skilled disc user, so he must be improvising. And thats the whole point. Pred weapon shouldn't be used by human with ease. If it is than it was poorly designed. There was two already designed pred secundary projectile weapons before AvPr (wrist gun and harpoon rifle) but were not used.
Pussyface came at him with swinging wristblades, so I think it's fair to assume that Harrigan's thought process was "Ok, I'd better defend myself". So he fights back in the only way possible, which is to use disc as a close-quarter weapon.
A human can use a melee predator weapon without problems, but a firing weapon? No. In the movie, he could shoot from the FIRST try. They could have a put a deleted scene where he attempts to fire it several times or something.
But i have no problem with P2. AvPr is a different story though.

I didn't like it. The flat design made it look "soft". I dunno, it just didn't appear as deadly as Anytime's.
The sparks made it look weird.
But it adds VARIETY! Not all Preds ought to have same caster. Just like human hunters, one will take precision scoped rifel, another a shotgun and yet another one will try a crossbow or bow. Im glad that there are differences in weapons that every pred must have. Also i liked that in AvP trailer plasma bolts were red and was dissapointed when in-film those were changed to blue.
It's just a shoulder cannon; variety doesn't mean much.

Well we did get the shurikens in AVP... but even if the disc had been in Requiem, it probably would have been too dark to make the disc out. ::)

What, no reason? The shuriken didn't return to Wolf and she ran right into its path. Thus, she was pinned.
She was at the wrong place at the wrong time, that's it. But the shuriken was HUGE, and it didn't look that big in Wolf's hands.

I don't know what you're talking about because every theatre I was in had that scene draw great applause and cheer for it.
It was hilarious seeing her character run into the path of death.
Coz you knew it was coming ;D Funny, I knew it was going to happen because it was shown in the red-band trailer, but I still went "OH!" when I saw it in-film.
Even though we saw the majority of the deaths in the trailer, just goes to show really we should try and avoid trailers and leave the surprises at the cinema. That is what I'll be doing when they release (if they do) a Avatar trailer.
Leaving surprises to the cinema is hard to do, especially if you forum a lot. I know that here on Gal, avoiding spoilers to Terminator 4 and TDK were difficult because people were always posting info about either movie regularly.

i went with plasma caster. i like that they can shoot with 2 free hands. in case they need to fend off oncoming enemies. or hold one while they blast at short range. wrist blades second. third disk. didn't like the the shrieking. didn't look like it should tear threw an enemies like the disk. i think the rotation would have to slow. or get stuck half way. and the disk would work much better as a melee weapon if needed.

I never understood the shuriken. Predators seem more the species for reliability and not looks. The disc carries all the characteristics for a more reliable weapon yet they insisted a shuriken..... Last I checked, Predators weren't space ninja's; but alas, us fans are ignored....

Combistick for sure. So easy to imagine a predator holding off an army of aliens with it. and as was said before, it was also in AvP. I gotta say tho, it could've been alot better in the game

The wrist blades. I really loved the shots of them extending out in Predator when it was about to kill Dillion and chasing Arnie. Very, very threatening.

I didn't find the power gauntlet shitty either.. seemed like a decent utility to me, why punch a heavy door down/wall through with your fists when you can have the gauntlet tear through it with minimal fuss, it kind of like on batman arkham asylum when he puts explosive gel on his knuckles and punches the joker into next week.
I thought the whip had small metal blades or something like that.

The book very specifically points out that the Witch King had a flail or a mace. Can't remember which. Either way, he had a weapon more brutal than any sword.

Definitely the wristblades (oldschool ones).
Just by looking at these things you know the one he's after will die a horrible death soon. There's no other weapon in the Predator armory that could top these blades when it comes to pure awesomeness.

Wasn't that Scar or Chopper? I thought Celtic was acting like a crow's nest and watching everything from above. Quinn quickly finds a gun and starts shooting at Celtic whom then jumps down.
I dunno. Chopper it is not since there are two blades on the same arm, whereas Chopper has one single bigass blade on each arm. I always thinked it was Celtic.
I love the cannon. Though, I dislike how "on a stalk" it can look.

I like the canon best cos if you had one in real life and it was the only one in existence and nobody knew, you could kill people without leaving any evidence so you could get away with it and seeing as it can punch through thick steel ( AVPR power station ) you can even take out tanks.

The Predator 2 plasma caster , netgun and finally the smart disk (less aggressive in design than the shuriken but so much more powerful) 8)
The whip was my favorite weapon i have ever seen.
If only it was in a better movie... then it probably would have had more recognition.
I prefer the ranged weapons such as the plasmacaster, speargun, netgun and smart disc. If I had to select just one of those, it'd have to be the plasmacaster.
Always enjoyed the Combstick, just thought the way Pussyface used it in P2 was pretty cool.
Spear. Predators use the spear the most out of all they're weapons.
I think they use the wristblades + caster more.

Predator 2 disc reminds me of tron 8) and then of course the classic blades and plasma cannon.
For me its always been the Shoulder Cannon though I have had a soft spot for the combi-stick and wristblades as well.
Gotta stick with the wristblades dude whether basic or extended their awesome and something you see in every Predator film. Second for me would be the Combi-Stick it's the Yautja's answer to spears and swords except 10x better along with the Glaive/Naginita which isn't an option. The Plasmacaster is also worth mentioning as it is the Yautja's most powerful weapon besides the Self Destruct Device that a Predator can carry.
wristblades its far more intense to watch the Predator slowly come for a charter and you just know when you see or hear the blades the humans gonna be painfully gutted

Really? Besides the slaughterhouse scene IMO the combi-stick has been a bit of a let down in movies, granted there's been some cool moments (Scar's "Dragoon Jump" on the Queen in AVP) but I do feel it has still been severly under-utilized especially considering how popular it is in the expanded universe (games+comics+novels), where it seems like it's almost as common as wristblades.
That's one for the wishlist: perhaps seeing a true spearmaster in the Predators sequel??
id rather the predator rarely use the spear, make it more of a rare weapon just in case of damage to the wrist blades.
My favorite is the Wristblades because they are the deadliest.

Same here, though I like the colour on the one in AVP and AVPR slightly more.
While I love both, I would have to put the disc slightly above the shuriken as my favorite weapon. It seems slightly more...dynamic, to me; same thing with the combi-stick in P2 vs. AVP/AVPR. Also, the disc came first, which scores points for originality, and despite what Paul Anderson thought I don't feel that it needed to be changed. A little variation isn't bad, though, and if I made an AVP/Predator film, I'd give the main Predator both (and make him/her live for once)!
My second favorite (of the options provided) might be either the combi-stick, specifically the "glaive" variant in the comics (yes, I know we're talking movies here but I like it), or the wrist blades. Third would be the net-gun, next might be the the wrist gun (I don't know, there's something I like about it) and the plasma caster. Next would be the speargun, if I knew what it looked like.
I haven't seen AVPR yet, so I can't really comment on any of the weapons introduced in it.
By the way, would it be possible to add the "missing" weapons to the poll, like the Arm Blades (AVPR, Predators), the Sword (P2), the Ceremonial Dagger (AVP), and the "Super" Speargun (Predators; used to kill

Like saying a chinese broadsword is the same as a long sword. Sure they're both swords, but the application in its usage is completely opposite.

One's a projectile, the other's a hitting stick. ( ???) Combi-Sticks and Nagitas are both bladed, even if they're used for different purposes.
Simple difference between a Predator's combistick and naginata is that the former is an exclusively stabbing weapon, whereas the naginata can be used as a cutting and slashing weapon.
Think of Wristblades on a stick. Exact same function.

There is a firm difference between stabbing and cutting type weapons. The combistick (and by the same token, any type of spear) is designed in a way that it wouldn't do an efficient job in cutting. You can indeed use it as a cutting weapon, but it is simply not designed to cut. It is designed to perforate, to stab. A cutting weapon like a sword can be used as a stabbing weapon, but it is designed to cut in first place.
The combistick's purpose is to penetrate the prey, hopefully hitting a vital organ along the way. In most cases, it would be treated as a one hit one kill type weapon. The nature of that type of weapon makes it harder to use, the blow must be very accurate and is easier to parry/dodge.
A naginata would be used to slice the victim. This type of weapon requires less precision and skill, and would only result in an instant death of it were used on the head or torso. This weapon is harder to block as it has a greater striking arc, at which any point is as dangerous as another. This could be used to hack off limbs rendering the victim helpless to be followed up with a killing blow.
If we look at japanese weaponry (which is where the naginata got it's name) the spear or Yari and the Naginata may look similar to the untrained eye, but ask any practitioner that is highly trained in both weapons and they will laugh at the suggestion that they are one in the same.

I think they mention in the Blu-ray special features or commentary that it was actually some sort of device which pierced his body & then expanded the spears from inside. What a nasty way to go.

I like the wristblade designs but I like the shoulder cannon more.
My favorite weapon would probably be the shuriken; it can be used both as a close-quarters weapon and a long-range one.
Wristblades followed closely by the plasma caster.

As I mentioned earlier my two favorites are the Wristblades and Combi-Stick but I want to see more of the Netgun and the Spear Gun in future films. We saw the Netgun 3 times (Twice in P2 and once in AVP) and the Spear Gun was only used on screen once or the projectile was at least only seen once in P2.
Netgun and then shoulder cannon. The netgun is the coolest brutal weapon. Its a fantastic showcase of a "future meets tribal" weapon that really cuts people up and entraps them. It hasn't got a lot of screen time, but one of the only good things about AVP was Celtics awesome use of his wrist netgun. Very cool.
Shoulder Cannon is an easy one. What really makes it classy though is the tri-dot aiming system used with it. The cannon just sits there, it's the red dots that make the gun what it is.
The Shuriken is one of my Favourites as well as the shoulder cannon, wrist blades, spear!! what the heck they're all good in their own way!! ;D
I gotta say wrist blades... so classic. The way they extend with the sound effect (cooler than Wolverine). But I must include the shuriken all on the strength of Scar's blind backhanded creeping xeno decapitation in AVP.
It's a Tie between the Disk, Shoulder Cannon, Wristblades, Combistick, and Laser Mines.
I would say Wrist Blades and my most favorite Combistick. I don't really like the high-tech Predator weapons. I'm more into the original Yatujas there ancestors.
to be honest the only pred ''weapon'' i never cared for was the power glove it just seemed inappropiate for them but i voted wristblades even though they are all winners in my book

I've always loved the shoulder cannon. Even though it went through so many different iterations, I've always liked the different designs. They've had their flaws, but at the end of the day they've remained faithful to the original in some form. Plus the blue plasma bolts have always been ace.

I personally didn't really like the blades in AVP. I did like Chopper's Mauls though. Scar's blades were too long and Celtic's swivel-blades weren't that great. At least how he used them.

If it were new, it wouldnt of been bad. But of the crap that she yelled at him when Sebastion had the Xeno inside of him, Anytime or Pussyface would of been like "......up yours" Ha Ha. Just kidding, but it worked well, could of been better though. And the Arnie reference was so out of place. Theres a Xeno about to kill Scar and she just hesitates for a bad moment of a good phrase.

The Shoulder Canon is my favorite followed by the disc.
I threw in my support for the shoulder cannon, though it was a tough choice between that, the wristblades and the disc. In the end, I had to go with the weapon that really wowed me in 1987. And I count the whole tracking system with tri-laser sighting along with the cannon itself...it's just a thing of beauty. A symphony of destruction.
I removed my vote for the wristblades and changed my vote to the Combi-Stick which is only listed in P2 for some reason and not AVP or AVPR.
The disc seemed to be more electronically powered while the shuriken was a simple throwing weapon. They could each be used for different scenarios. I don't see why the Preds wouldn't have both.
It's overkill. They both achieve the same goal. I'd rather have the disc.

Not really. The shuriken looks like it could be used on stationary enemies, while the disc has a tracking method & is obviously powered by something. Obviously the disc would be the more handy weapon, but what if the battery runs out during combat? He still has the shuriken, which is just as deadly if he can aim accurately.
Its hard for me to choose they are all so cool i like the wrist blades, plasma caster smart disk, combi stick and that whip Wolf uses.Hope that gets used again.
He only used it twice (As I can remember) one to kill the alien in the store and again to kill the alien on the hospital roof then Chet snapped it :( Still like it though. He could have used it more though.

If the mothership counts then I chose that. That thing looks like it could nuke human motherships or alien hives with ease. I guess their honor code inhibits their use of it. If, not then I pick the plasmacaster. So much firepower and awesomeness packed in one weapon. It is pretty much a one hit kill.

In AvP 2010, the pred ship does indeed nuke the sh** out of a USCM Nostromo-type ship. Quite easily at that.

Anywas back on the topic, I started using the Throwing Disk in AVP and it's starting to grow on me.

Ah yes, I watched Predator 2 last Saturday...that disc was really awesome. It cuts like adamantium.

Personally, I like the Disk the best, the whip was cool, but kind of not needed compared to the other weapons ans the plasma cannon doesn't serve an entertaining kill. Other than the disk, I like the wrist blades.

My personal favs are the disk and whip but I voted for the net gun, that thing is just nasty, it would be cool to see it used in the more traditional on the ground, into the air style net traps.
When I first seen the netgun in P2 it was just vicious! The disc would be second for me with the wristblades third.

That thingy in predators they shot the bald black dude with. He got shot, then it sort of exploded with telescopic spike/spear things in multiple directions. I don't know what it's called by I call it the spiky ball gun lol. Probably one of the only things I like from that movie.
Besides that, the classic p2 disc. Runner up wolf's dual shoulder cannons when he got that double headshot aww yeah.
The Plasmacaster is cool but I prefer the Disc more .
Wristblades are the classic weapoin of choice, it's the weapon that makes the creature. I do love the Smart Disc as a close second though but having Wristblades that are more practice than Wolverines claws due to position when striking I'm voting for them.

I really enjoy seeing variety in the Predator's arsenal, lots of inspired hunting weapons. Makes for some very gory scenes. :laugh:
Yea , I didn't like seeing only the wristblade & plasmacaster in Predators .
The Shoulder Canon , when debut in the first film . A lot thought was put into a weapon , literally e.g. see's a target and thinks fire.
It has been established , that the "Predator Race are extremely old and technically advanced to boot ,and have travelled from all corners
Of the ' Universe , So the shoulder canon is more than just a weapon.
i will go with the combi stick is my fav it is very strong and you can throw it like a spear to.
Gotta go with the classic wrist-blades. They can make for an honorable kill without damaging potential trophies like the plasma-caster might, plus they look incredibly cool.
My name says it all. The shuriken is king to me. Despite its limited appearances, love the design and the sound effect from the first AVP movie. Wrist blades and plasma caster are no more than a centimeter behind though.

It was glowing red in AVP, which would suggest can't handle sustained use, but the one in predators was spinning which might be to help with overheating issues... i don't recall it showing signs of overheating at all.
As for the thread... I'd like to see a weaponized version of the power glove thingy in avpr... whatever the predator punches just explodes and gets splattered against whatever's behind the hapless victim...

I'm fond of the wrist blades, plasmacaster, and the combistick. The smart disc has grown on me and I've always liked Wolf's whip too. Also have to give a shout out to that acid stuff he used to melt Xenomorph's with.
There is nothing that will ever top the wristblades. Sleek, personal, efficient. Beautiful. Built for war.
I happen to like a lot of them for different reasons. I like wrist blades because it is the only one that seems primitive for a predator. It doesn't give them as much of an advantage as other weapons do. The disc is just badass to me. Its awesome in AvP when one of the predators (can't remember which one) is just throwing it at aliens and chopping them to bits. Predator 2 is awesome to me and the part when Danny Glover maims the predator with it symbolizes the difference between having technology and not having it. Without it he doesn't have a chance, but with it he does. The predator kills people with it for sport, he uses it for self defense. The net is awesome to but it is too advantageous for the predator. The spear is another cool weapon with some balance. I like hunting weapons really but the disc is just really cool. Some of the weapons on here from like avpr I don't even recognize. Although I actually liked the laser mines because it fits the predators weapons in that setting. Having to fight something that is actually stronger than them means they should have more weapons.
My favourite is the plasma caster. The futuristic weapon out of all Preds armoury.
I always loved the netgun, a very hunter-like weapon. Also love the whip, I thought it was a cool addition.

Wasn't there a spear gun that the predator used in P 2? It wasn't a rifle but more of a wrist weapon. He used it to kill the Jamaican voodoo posse member with the terrible hat.
You see the speartip/projectile but never the part that shoots it iirc.
The Predator does use a wrist mounted weapon later on but that seemed energy based than spear.

It'd be great to see an actor that's also agile enough to move around effortlessly in that costume. A master of weaponry and movement - that would be amazing to see. But due to the human condition (i.e. that awesome pred suit), to make this happen, it might border on CGI territory... I think introducing preds with actual specialties would be neat though.
That was one of the (many) things I liked about how they handled his movement in certain shots in the first film, attaching a bungee rope to the outfit to take most of the weight so Kevin Peter Hall could move quicker and more freely than he would have otherwise been able to. It's the sort of great practical solution I feel like they should use more often to show him moving with the speed that you'd expect, rather than being encumbered by the natural weight of the suit.
Love the speargun from the games. Great for dismembering and packs a nice punch.

Yeah beheading people in AVP2 was such a delight ! And hearing Prince laugh his ass off after that was even better ! I remember two consecutive decapitations with the speargun and he laughs even harder the second time :laugh:
Wrist blades and plasma caster.
To be fair, I like a lot of their weapons. Spear, speargun, netgun and disc etc.
Definitely the wristblades, I like how they're essentially an extension of a predator's arm and movements. Though I also like the disc and shuriken, how they're thrown.
I think the net gun is horrifying ... the way the steel cables tighten and cut into the skin.

I loved the whip. And the pistol. Think the pistol configuration of the shoulder canon in AvPR might actually be my favourite design. Nice list, Wweyland.
In no particular order, Whip, Wristblades, Glaive, Maul, Combistick, Netgun, Disc, Plasma Caster.
I'd like to see a Maul and a Whip in a good film, I liked Wolf using the Plasma Caster's concussive force to knock the Drones into the laser mines too.

Thanks. The weapons have gone more fancier and flashier with each movie. Hopefully, The Predator goes back to the roots which more simpler weapons (although they are using the Shuriken again).
We already had simpler weapons in Ps. I'm hoping for some new toys in this one.

I agree, part of the appeal for me was in the pred tech, represented among other stuff by their weapons
The problem with the newer stuff compared to the first movie is they often leave a lot of evidence behind. Somebody is going to have a field day studying all the nets, spear tips, shurikens, etc. left behind. Maybe the Predators just don't care anymore.
If they take the time to retrieve them it doesn't matter.
Even in terms of the wounds they leave they're far less suspect than the Plasma Caster's cauterization.
They can always hope for a Wolf like character to clean their mess up later.
Oh no please not Wolf like. In such case People will have more tech then before.
