Huh. Looks like they gave them nostril holes under the cowl. I hadn't noticed that before.
yup and also eye socket-like indentations, never noticed either, VERY cool

And AvP:R was way worse.

Yeah I know, I was picking up on the fact they said in interviews they reintroduced bio-mech elements in the neck for AvP-R. But it was probably the worst Alien head and neck of the lot.

They made them just like JPJ wanted.

And AvP:R was way worse.

I don't mind the fleshy look of the creatures, it suited this film.  They were supposed to look like cockroaches.  They are genetic hybrids.

I genuinely don't mean to come off as condescending, but this is common knowledge in the Alien fandom. It's been said for years as an argument for the AR Aliens, and it's a fair one, but it doesn't make them look any less terrible. They're just poor designs.4

QuoteI like it but if ADI work on Alien 5, they had better give us a biomechanical design as the fleshy look has been overused.

If their attempt at a bio-mechanical neck in AvP-R was anything to go by, they may not be capable of anything but disappointing.

They re-used the suits for AVP but they aren't Alien movies so they don't count.

They re-design for every movie, even Ridley Scott likes the fleshy design as seen in Alien Covenant.

To think they got even worse after Alien Resurrection.

Yeah I just... No, ADI, no.

One thing that would improve it a LITTLE is if it had the right ashen/grey/skeletal coloring. But instead it's the putrid brown.

The complete absence of the biomech texture on the body surface is also a real saddening sight.

From a technical stand point, it looks great. I commend ADI for their technical know-how and always trying to come up with new ideas and ways to make the creatures deliver a performance.

Ugly redesign of a classic movie alien. Sad to see how far Giger's original 1978 creature has devolved over the years, imo.
