AvP Movie Alien Abilities / Attacks

Below you’ll find descriptions of alien abilities and attacks in the Alien vs Predator movie.

Claws
Aliens have extremely sharp claws capable of ripping things to pieces. In AvP, they don’t really get used a lot to cause any extreme amounts of damage. While the Grid Alien is fighting the Celtic Predator, it managed to scratch his mask with its claws. Also, interestingly, is that the Grid Alien couldn’t free himself from the Predator’s net by just using his claws.

Tail
The Aliens’ tails are really powerful in AvP, stronger than they’ve ever been seen before. The Grid Alien managed to impale the Gill Predator and to even lift him up off the ground. The Alien’s tail in this shot though is much longer than it is in the Celtic vs Grid fight – despite the Celtic Predator cutting part of it off. It’s also can be used to trip people up as seen in that fight. Another Alien later on in the film uses its tail to impale the Scar Predator’s shoulder. The Queen Alien uses her tail at the end of the film too, to impale Scar Predator, killing him.

Head-Bite
The Head-Bite attack is the Aliens’ most deadly attack against humans and Predators. The Grid Alien uses it against Gill Predator and Celtic Predator killing them both. The attack even managed to penetrate their steel helmets which shows just how powerful it is. Another Alien uses the attack a little before this scene in the film against Verheiden in the shaft. Probably a mistake in the film but if he was killed then, the Aliens wouldn’t have been able to use him as a potential host as he is seen later cocooned.

Acid
Aliens have been known for a long time to have acid for blood. But what’s interesting, is that the acid can burn through Predator weapons and armour too. This is shown in the Celtic vs Grid Alien fight when the Predator’s wristblades are burnt, so is his armour and then again the Predator nets. The Scar Predator also points out that the acid is non-reactive against an Alien’s own armour which is how he managed to created a shield from an Alien’s head. The Alien acid can also be used by Predators for “blooding” purposes – to mark their helmets and foreheads.

Crawling
Aliens have long been able to crawl everywhere. This gives them a great advantage over humans and Predators because they are able to easily sneak up on their prey. They can crawl on walls and ceilings by using their hands and feet.

Speed
Speed has always been another advantage for Aliens. They are incredibly fast which is pointed out on a number of occasions throughout the film. The Queen Alien is also fast too as shown at the end of AvP when she’s chasing after Lex.
