New Prometheus Fan-art Piece

Community News | Posted by ikarop on 25 Dec 2011 5:00 PM

A few days ago we received the latest glimpse at director Ridley Scott’s highly awaited sci-fi project Prometheus. The studio has kept details under wraps, but that hasn’t stopped Slovakian concept artist, Rado Javor, to create some undoubtedly amazing and creative fan-art for the film. We now present you an exclusive look at his last and most human related fan-art work. This time Rado shows us the Prometheus ship entering a very Alien-esque and yet very dreamy world. Make sure to check out the image in full resolution below:

“This is my fourth painting inspired by Prometheus, you can now see how close my guess was to the actual ship design from the film. The painting was done before the teaser trailer got released and this was my vision of the Prometheus ship. The Scene shows some ancient orbital dockyards near a Space Jockey planet, this is the first encounter of the human explorers with alien technology.” Rador told us.

You can find the rest of his Prometheus fan-art pieces at his deviantArt account here. Let us know your thoughts on his artwork in the forums.

Aliens Infestation Developer Diary 5 Released

Games News | Posted by ikarop on 13 Oct 2011 8:55 PM

Sega and Gearbox have published the last developer diary from WayForward Technologies. In this final entry, director Adam Tierney discusses Aliens Infestation’s approach to death and rescue. You can read both parts of this entry here (part one) and here (part two).

“When the HP Meter is drained, that character is dead (sort of). Say goodbye, because you’re never going to see their portrait, or hear their voice again. You even get a big, fat, red X over their portrait in the Marines Roster, and their status is changed from “Active” to “Deceased”. Once they’ve died, their radio screen cuts to static (as in the film), and the player is asked to select from their remaining soldiers.

A couple of weeks ago, we revealed the first individual character BIOs detailing the backstory of nine of the game characters. Make sure to check the links posted above to find the rest. Alternatively, you can download all 20 characters BIOs here.

In related news, an extended version of the previous launch trailer has been released online over at the Sega blog. You can watch it here.

Update: Guess who has been playing the Knife Trick minigame in Aliens Infestation lately? That’s right. Actor Lance Henriksen, aka ‘Bishop’ from Aliens. Photo and details here. Thanks to newbeing for the story.

Aliens Infestation Developer Diary 4 Released

Games News | Posted by ikarop on 06 Oct 2011 9:53 PM

Gearbox has published the fourth developer diary for Aliens Infestation. This time around, WayForward’s Adam Tierney covers everything from the equipment and weapons to the mobility of the Colonial Marines. You can read the full entry here at Gearboxity. Did you miss any of the previous entries? You can find them here.

The barely-seen UA-571C Sentry Guns make an appearance in the game (both in assistance, and resistance, to the player). There seems to be a real cult following around this particular piece of technology, since it was seen so briefly in the film, so we were glad to be able to pull it into the game in a more substantial way.

In related news, it’s Free Stuff Friday over at Sega! This week Sega is giving away some really nice prizes to celebrate the release of Aliens Infestation. Prizes include a copy of the game, Aliens Infestation buttons and a very special (and animated!) framed art piece from the game. Head over to the Sega blogs for more information. Thanks to Sega PR for the news.
