Actor Michael Biehn has recently commented on Aliens: Colonial Marines in an audio interview with Xbox Live’s Major Nelson about his involvement in Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon. The Aliens actor, who reprised his role of Corporal Dwayne Hicks for the poorly received Aliens videogame, explained:
“I did an Aliens game last year that nobody really talked about very much, I never really heard too much about it.“
“I heard when it came out. Nobody ever came up to me afterwards and said ‘Oh, that Aliens game was really good’, or whatever.“
When asked if he would like to work on more videogames, he replied:
“I don’t want to spread myself out to other games that don’t have the passion… You know, like the Aliens game.”

Additionally, Dark Star’s John Carpenter, has also commented on the game for Game Informer:
“It’s all about money. It’s not that something is being mistreated, it’s just another marketing issue. They are trying to get you to buy the game, which I stupidly did.”

Sega and Gearbox Software have responded to the class action suit that was issued earlier this week by a consumer. You can read their comments on the subject below.
Gearbox Software: “Attempting to wring a class action lawsuit out of a demonstration is beyond meritless. We continue to support the game, and will defend the rights of entertainers to share their works-in-progress without fear of frivolous litigation.”
Sega: “SEGA cannot comment on specifics of ongoing litigation, but we are confident that the lawsuit is without merit and we will defend it vigorously.”
On a related note, the lawsuit has been assigned an Alternate Dispute Resolution.
A new DLC release for Aliens: Colonial Marines named Reconnaissance Pack has been revealed today. The new pack, priced at £7.99/€9.99, includes additional MP maps and character customization. More information can be found below:

- New skins, fatalities and heads for each xeno class allow for additional xeno customisation.
Update: The Reconnaissance Pack will be rolling out on all platforms beginning May 7th (May 8th for PlayStation 3 players in Europe).
Sega and Gearbox Software have been reportedly sued by a consumer over claims of false advertising in regards to Aliens: Colonial Marines, says Polygon. The lawsuit, filed yesterday by law firm Edelson LLC on behalf of Damion Perrine, claims that Aliens: Colonial Marines was falsely advertised by Gearbox Software and Sega at trade shows, misleading consumers by giving an inaccurate representation of the final product.
“Unfortunately for their fans, Defendants never told anyone — consumers, industry critics, reviewers, or reporters — that their ‘actual gameplay’ demonstration advertising campaign bore little resemblance to the retail product that would eventually be sold to a large community of unwitting purchasers.” Read more here.
In related news, Steam appears to be issuing full refunds to consumers who have filled a complaint with Washington State Attorney. Find more here.
“Valve Corporation has agreed to credit your full purchase price of $49.99 paid for the software product Aliens: Colonial Marines on 2/5/2013. This does not necessarily reflect on the validity of your claim, nor does it preclude you from, or, assist you in seeking private legal remedies. (…) We will retain a copy of your complaint as part of our public record of the firm’s business practices.”
Gearbox Software has released a new hot fix for Aliens: Colonial Marines today on PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3. This temporary fix adjusts some of the variables of the game in order to address some of the balance issues present in single player and multiplayer. Read on to find out more:
“A hot fix is automatically applied at the “Press Start” screen when Aliens: Colonial Marines is connected to the internet. In general, hot fixes are used to temporarily address issues between major updates. Hot fixes are not permanent — they are temporarily stored in memory during the game session and lost upon exiting Aliens: Colonial Marines.
To ensure that you receive hot fixes, make sure that your system is connected to the internet when Aliens: Colonial Marines boots up. A hot fix differs from an update in that an update contains changes that are permanently stored on your system and only needs to be downloaded once.” You can find the full changelog below:
Campaign
- Adjusted “Recruit” difficulty to be easier.
Versus
- Reduced Xeno Bludgeon skill stun duration from 1 second to .75 seconds
- Xeno Heavy Chitin armor bonus decreased from 15% to 10%
- Xenos are now more vulnerable to damage during ‘Rage’
- Xeno Rupture trait damage reduced
- Lowered the horizontal and vertical reach of Xeno Rupture
- Increased Xeno Enraged Pounce attack cool down from 2.5 seconds to 3 seconds

Thanks to Mr. Runner and Ridgetop for the news.
After some delay, Gearbox Software today released a new patch for the PC version of Aliens: Colonial Marines. However said update has now been temporarily removed from Steam due to some compatibility issues caused by it.
“A small update for Aliens: Colonial Marines PC should begin rolling out on Steam this afternoon, adding a toggle for the film grain filter and increased security to address cheats and exploits.
The team is continuing to work on updates for all platforms, including the hot fix support mentioned at PAX — details will come as they’re finalized.“
Additionally, “today’s update contained some added protection to address cheats and exploits. We didn’t intentionally go after / disable any non-exploitative user tweaks or mods, any changes there are an unfortunate side effect of the cheating protection.“
After giving out confirmation to European retailers this morning, Sega has now officially confirmed that the Wii U version of Aliens: Colonial Marines is no longer in development. The announcement has arrived after Sega also revealed yesterday that they will be closing their Australian studios.
A representative from Demiurge Studios, developers of the Wii U version of Aliens: Colonial Marines, told Gamespot:
“We were very sorry to hear about the cancellation of Aliens for Wii U. It’s business-as-usual here at Demiurge Studios. We are focused on making Shoot Many Robots for mobile kick ass and we’ve got another unannounced game in the works that we can’t wait to unveil!”
