Mortal Kombat X Alien Gameplay – Kombat Pack 2 Trailer Available!

The Kombat Pack 2 trailer featuring the first Mortal Kombat X Alien gameplay is now online and available for viewing! Early in December it was announced that Alien would be joining Predator in the Mortal Kombat series as a playable character in the Kombat Pack 2 downloadable content. The official trailer for Kombat Pack 2 is now available!

“The Mortal Kombat X Kombat Pack 2 Gameplay Trailer showcases the Kombatants being introduced to the game’s playable roster in 2016 including the Xenomorph from Alien, Leatherface, Triborg and Bo’ Rai Cho.”

The trailer shows some of the Alien’s moves and abilities which include calling in an egg, facehugger and additional Aliens. It also shows off the Alien headbiting an opposing character and some of those armblades that the Alien seems to have inherited from its host, Baraka.

All 3 variations of the Alien skin can be seen in this trailer. You can see a smooth head, a ridged head and some sort of crest-type head. They all seem to have the arm blades, stocky build though and shorter head as well.

I think the argument is that Alien for MKX is like AVPR for the movies.  Mind you, I LOVE AVPR but something both AVPR and the Alien costume in the game is that they both seem to be based on something that fans don't think belong in the genre; for AVPR, it was the teen horror trope and for MKX it's that the Alien's design (and move set?) is too much a reskin of another character in the game rather than its own thing.

Like XenoHunter99, I don't really get the hate but at the same time... I do. I do understand that the reason for the anger is that the design isn't really up to the high standards which the fandom has set up for itself, the fandom wanted something which was... essentially Big Chap. A lot of people wanted the original Giger Alien in the game, and clamored for it. But apparently, Ed Boon saw otherwise to create a new type of Alien which... was never even seen before, or potentially even so much as thought of. A Tarkatan Alien. And a lot of fans on both MK and Alien side, are not happy.

Though in the case of MK fans, they just simply hate guest characters in their game. Plain and simple, no other way of slicing it.

But in the case of Alien fans, well... their argument is more understandable. The design is something to be desired and while, I believe that the Tarkatan Alien is something bold on Boon's part, there could've been some changes in the design. At least lengthen the head.

But at the same time, I would've thought that they take solace that the character is not at all canon neither in the Mortal Kombat mythology or even so much as the Alien mythology. It would seem as if... I was wrong.

Then again, I suppose the same arguing would've applied to me concerning the Predator and the use of the Hish-qu'ten term.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

I'm still not feeling the hate for this. The Predator seems to be a much better adaptation, a better fit for the series. Leatherface seems perfect for the proceedings. I think MKX team gets points for trying to add some Alien flavor to the mix. Might have been better to go with Pinhead, but this Alien is better than no Alien, I think.

We've kind of had one already. Granted it was more of an arcade game but...

    SNES version.

    Arcade version.

Wasn't there something called Mutagen or something like that which had them in?

The arcade game was fun, but I'm talking about a modern version of the concept in the vein of the 2010 AVP game but in the arcade fighter style. Something identical to Godzilla Save the Earth, Godzilla Destroy all Monster Melee, Godzilla Unleashed, something like those game but without the short comings. A modern AVP fighter game with the characters, Xenos and Yautja from the movies.

Has anyone ever thought of setting a up a kick starter for a Mortal Kombat fighting style game based on Alien vs Predator.

Where you can select a characters from the films such as Ellen Ripley "with a special control move that allows you to commandeer the Power Loader for combat." Other characters could include Dwayne Hicks, Mike R. Harrigan, Sgt Dutch Schaefer "who may also have his special moves of fatal weapons of rope nets, sharp sticks, explosives grenade and other booby traps which he used against the Predator"

You could select Xenos of the films from the Classic Drone Alien, the Warrior Alien, the Alien Queen, the Dog Alien and Predalien ect, as well as the Yautjas such as the Jungle Hunter, City Hunter, Young Blood Scar Predator, Wolf Predator, Berserker Predator. A game where you can chose and fight who you wish.

Would this be a game that Alien and Predator fan would want?

So based on what I'm hearing from all over the web, it seems Alien is just a re-skin of Barraka; I can't say I'm surprised since I called it since Day 1, but I'm still disappointed for those who were hoping for something more original in the game.

I understand why with the engine/hit boxes and all but the alien is shit. I dont want a reskinned baraka deformed alien. No fan wants half-assed fanservice, if you cant do an alien right dont do it it all.

The alien design is terrible, I don't get why all the other characters are done fairly accurately but the alien has to have a baraka blade and be all kinds of wrong. The in game action was sweet though.

I believe he looks very Barraka'ish because in a previous trailer it shows the chestburster emerge from Barraka and so the Alien in the game takes on his features. Hence the arm blades, teeth, etc.

I've been looking around for information on this new Alien character and there are people saying it's just a skin of an existing character, but I didn't think the original character had a tail. ???

The choice in designing a shorter head here lies in the way the attack/abilities engine of all characters work. Take for example Jax's Fatality, it already looks stupid when he rips Predators mask "apart". They just don't have a good way to implement characters with a non humanoid body physic into the game content without totally messing up the games graphics.

They should have made a more dynamic model engine in the first place instead of "working their way around" like this if they knew they would implement such characters later on...

Someone pointed out that all 3 variations of the Alien skin can be seen in this video which is certainly true. We have a smooth head, a ridged head and some sort of crest-type head. All have the arm blades, stocky build though and short head though.

Agree this deviation looks and acts like just a Baraka skin, not a full character. I don't like how Predator stayed true to form, but the alien..nope gotta get Baraka back in the game via a very very cheesy looking skin. YAWN. It's like they spent NO TIME on this characters development. I guess it doesn't matter, I don't play it anymore after that horrible launch on PC and this does not exactly make me want to purchase any DLC or invest in any way to support this developer any longer. They are essentially making the same fighting game over and over (DC stuff, MK stuff). It's the same timing and formula without much attention to variations in play. Bye Nether realm and WB, no more $$$ for you ever again.

Will,, it looks like there are at least 2 aliens.  1 looks like it has a head from AVPR, as in Chet.  BTW, where did that term come from?  Whas it in the movie?  I have no plans to watch that thing again...

The name Chet? It's what the crew called it after Bill Paxton's character in Weird Science.

You mean our crew on this forum?  Sorry OT, I know.  Do I have to watch Weird Science to get it?

The other Alien appears to be more inspired by something more like from the early films.  Regardless, the head is too short.  It's supposed to be a phallic symbol remember?  Somebody give that Alien some Viagra please!  Without the long head, it just doesn't look that ominous.

Hey, maybe the Alien is a little on the small side, you know what I'm sayin'?

I do quite like the gameplay. I look forward to the Alien vs Predator matches. And how they pull off the fatalities on the Alien with all the acid blood. I wonder if each melee damage will make you lose health as well.
