The new multiplayer DLC for Aliens: Colonial Marines, entitled Bug Hunt, is available today on PC, PlayStation 3* and Xbox 360 for $14.99/£9.99/14,99€. Some gameplay footage of the new mode can be found below.
“Bug Hunt is an objective based horde mode where accuracy and teamwork are key as you battle to survive 30 waves of increasingly challenging xenos and enemy Weyland-Yutani soldiers. Fight the fear across 3 brand-new maps: Broadside, Mercenary and Tribute. Spend money earned from killing xenos and enemy soldiers on extra guns, ammo and health as well as opening up access to new areas of the map and suppressing enemy waves by capturing beacon points.”
*According to Gearbox Software, the DLC should arrive to the European PSN on Wednesday, March 20.
btw i completed tribute on soldier from wave 1...i was alone until wave 18-19 with 2 turrets in the first building, on the 2nd floor in that long tunnel...one guy came for a 2 waves...then he left but around 25th wave someone connected and im glad it was an experienced person, we activated all the supressors, got into operations and somehow survived the last wave without turrets at the respawn point
im so proud :DDD
but setting up the turrets in the corridors was the stupidest thing...outside they worked very well and in that long tunnel also but in the corridors we were manhandled by the xenos
The problem I run into most with people who don't use their mics in this mode. It took me 3 rounds to convince someone to give me $2000 to open the $10,000 dollar door to operations.
I'd be more inclined to believe the opposite, pretty easy to comprehend if I'm honest.
i'm sure 90% of people don't know this.
There are "threat suppressors" in bug hunt that the marines must arm to lower the threat level. Once a threat suppressor is activated, aliens will continue attacking until it is fully armed.
What do you mean? Suppressors actually slow the bullets outta the barrel! How does THAT lower the difficulty?!
haven't played AVP's Survivor mode, but Bug Hunt is debrained and utterly annoying... The Xenos are ridiculous in terms of damage, with grenades and entire clips to knock just one out, come wave 5, no kidding! A straight shot from 2 feet at the head of a Xeno does nothing, so no, Private, increase the number of Xenos, if you must, but NEVER, ever do what Gearbox did to the Xenos damage points! That is no fun, just ludicrous to watch! The Mercs firing while running and hitting every single shot is not fun either! So, unless you're a fan of bosses (I am not, and it certainly ruins the suspension of disbelief to me) and incredible unrealistic almost invincible enemies and AI that has a Xeno five feet from you and next milisecond, is already in your face, almost like magic, no, this Bug Hunt mode is crap! I like the concept, but poor execution! The Aliens damage should have stopped at wave 4 and then just increase the number of Xenos on screen (I mean, already three on screen, if the AI was done properly, would get you killed almost instantly! Now, with five or six with that damage resistance, nah, I think I'll pass! Also, can't find anyone online for weeks now! So, it's official, the game is dead online! According to Steam, less than a month after its launch, there was nobody online! That says a lot!
Sorry about my outburst, but it kills me when a concept is good and then thwarted by poor AI and enemy evolution gone utterly wrong! We should be able to play this mode alone (we can, if we stay in just one spot and with three turrets! And we must be close to an ammo and health storage!) But with the Xenos taking so damn long to kill, it makes the entire experience annoying, when we see a six-shooter shotgun being completely ineffective against a SINGLE Xeno come pass wave 5!
I hope so, if only just one as a Hicks flashback to the events that depart from Alien3... I don't know how long it could take to do an FMV insert on the gameplay... The 'we got everything' is probably to keep doors open for a sequel, and given that the story was boring, snoring and smuthering as hell, any insert FMV shwoing us the fall of >weyland-Yutani, for instance, would be most unwelcoming given the retarded vision of Gearbox's Neumann fraud!
Having said that, though, I heard he was sick for a while, and even though I disliked his 'vision' immensely, I am glad he got better! He should be more humble, though, when confronted with the fiasco of a story he wrote! And nothing he said in interviews match the game, so Gearbox should set the record straight!
By the way, the Bug Hunt maps shows some of the graphics included in the demo, especially the ground textures on the Tribute map, and if you peek through the window in the Ship map (never remember its name), you can see the planet's light reflecting on the sister ship and it is awesome!
The other DLC might be story missions
AVP 2010 Survivor mode was HOT TRASH. One open area, tiny at that, no doors, and WAY TOO DARK.
Bug Hunt shits all over Survivor mode from AVP 2010.
Ohhhhhh, that's right. I was confused.
Why does it say you only have 20 plus kills?
I agree that it has glitches but I beat the first 2 maps alone on normal mode. It can be done...... I think its fun as shit. Just needs DEDICATED SERVERS!!
They should build a DLC or a patch that enables us to have a crew of NPC/bot buddies to play with, because unless the issues with the connection/finding parties is solved, this mode is SP only for me! I am tired of waiting and waiting and waiting...!
So, There is still LONG WAYS to go for Gearbox! And next DLC, they need to either retcon or fill in the blanks for the story to make sense! Otherwise, there is no graphics patch, AI semi-patch or co-op modes that can save the beast!
Still, great graphics on the Bug Hunt modes! Why weren't they in the SP campaign to begin with, is anyone's guess!
Regarding the grain, I think it hides better the
poorgraphics flaws, but it gets annoying... good to know they will include a toggle option on next patches...Although it is good to see Gearbox trying, this game took 6 years to develop... They are trying to buy us back with things hat ought to have been done prior to release, not months after! And a 4 GB patch says it all! The biggest patch I have ever seen for a game!
Nevertheless, this DLC and the patch are steps in the right direction, except for the film grain...

I think I might wait fr a bit :/
but i like the game nonetheless and is awesome with coop campaign.
A:CM is down to $31.54 now @amazon.com and you can get all four DLC for $29.99 (season pass.) You might be able to find a better deal somewhere else or just waiting for another price drop. Good luck!
That can be taken another way....
Maybe past recruit. I made it to 15 or so by myself. It was nuts.
Nice to see you've calmed down since our last convo
Bug Hunt is loads of fun. My sonic electronic ball breakers are finally getting some action.
That blows! Thanks for the info though...
SO, in short, I like this AI more (not perfect, but improved a bit) but the difficulty is not good... I mean, the Xenos should win in numbers, not by having spend a whole clip or shotgun load to kill just ONE! That is just silly!
Nevertheless, it is strange that this Tribute level has better graphics than the same level on the game! The landscape, the rain on the ground (resembling more the demo) etc... Weird...
Have fun, guys!
We had 4 people, on recruit, with 3 sentry guns near the end. Took us about 80 minutes. It gets really intense, even on recruit.
I don't think I'd last more than 10 waves on ultimate badass mode.
But has anyone else noticed the new xeno skins that were running around, i believe 2 of them were on the lurker any update on if they'll be available?
I dunno, that's something a bit difficult to imagine, given how much money Burgerlands 1 and 2 made and Sega threw at them.
When you buy the season pass you are paying for all of the DLC at once, but at a discounted price.
I thought it got me a percentage off the price of the DLC?
Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining. But when did this change?
I think they ran out of money. lol.
