I gave up naive idealism when I stopped sniffing glue.

A:CM could never realistically fit within every fan's ideal wet dream. Some fans want to beat down the aliens like wimps in a bar brawl while other fans believe the aliens are invincible creatures that craft fine art and fly spaceships after they mature. What do you want from an aliens game?

... And some of us would just like an actual attempt at the tension and fear of the movies transferred into the dynamics of a game. the dynamics part being the area of emphasis. The reason this game won't be as good as it could have been for me simply comes down to the over use of scripted sequences and over linearity. AVP 99 was linear, but the AI was basically set loose in the halls to do as it wanted. With the improvements in computer power, and what we've learned of AI in the decade plus change since then, I can only imagine what that same kind of scenario could allow aliens to do.

Same here, although it remains to be seen how A:CM will turn out.

Every so often, someone reinvents a game mechanic which was around in the 1980s/1990s and pronounces it as inventive and genius, when it's actually stuff which should have just become standard, way back then.

Man, I remember how innovative stuff like 'Chuck Yeager's Air Combat' used to be... Makes me feel strangely old to realise how most people on the Internet have never even heard of it.

Then again, I got to witness the glorious cinematic triumph of Luke Skywalker fighting it out with Bagpuss in 'Wing Commander 3', too.

    QuoteSeen a good amount, actually.

Were that the case you wouldn't be dribbling and moaning on about 'why is your opinion more important?'  Try harder.

QuoteI'm gonna decide not to hate or love the story until I actually play it.

Anyone with more than half a brain, can see the premise is bullshit.

The trick, William Potter, is not minding that it's bullshit.

    I rest my case.

Opinions can sometimes be wrong.  Such is the case here.

Since you've continually missed it, my opinion holds no more weight than anyone elses.  But it is flattering that you think it does.

M'kay, buddy. Have fun with that.  :D

    Empty wallet, open mind.   ;D

What exactly do you mean by that, friend?

I'm being a facetious prick. Don't worry, I meant nothing personal by it.

Though it comes from a bit of resentment. I think some people are all too willing to keep an open mind irregardless of a lot of the WTFREDFLAGS going up. Of course, the opposite is entirely true. Some people just like to hate things.

I try not to be either, but usually end up in one camp or the other anyway.  ;)

I'm not denying that the story looks a little sketchy, but I really am keeping an open mind about it. But Multiplayer is going to be my main focus anyways.

A big mouth shows an empty head.

Are we doing an idiom contest?

That would be a full mouth, but, yes, we should have an idiot contest.

I find it funny that you parade around this forum, treating your opinions like fact. You need to get used to the idea that some people are going to disagree with you. You don't like it, and that's fine, but your opinion is no more valid than anyone else's.

I've observed SM for a lonnng time. He may be abrasive at times, but he never is so presumptuous as to assume his opinion on something is fact. He assumes the people around him are smart enough to know the difference. The fact that it's him saying it should be indicative enough that it's his opinion.

After all, he didn't say "Science proves..." or anything. (Though that would be friggin funny  :D )

Liking the trailer is not a matter of intelligence. Rather, it is a matter of personal taste. SM doesn't exactly respect people's opinions when they disagree with him as far as I've seen.

You've not seen much, have you?

But he was right.  The voiceover was lame.

    'ken oath.

When a guy who came up with the nonsense that is the plot of Colonial Marines disowns the trailer - pretty good indication.
