    Quick reaction test, you say?

Would be pretty cool, if it weren't for the fact that even when you win...

    Spoiler

    You lose.

Not in A:CM though, Hicks would be all good.  Drake too.  Vasquez too.  Hudson's arm too.

Please, Please no elevators/lifts/cranes/moving platforms. If you've played the Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine campaign you'll know what I mean.
There ain't nothing wrong with elevators, it's just that everyone does them wrong, they are always used for exposition and they are oversaturated in every game they're in.

They should be rare and used for a quick reaction test, like say this guy breaks through the roof of your lift, if you don't kill him in about 5-6 seconds your dead.

Would be good I think since every game makes out that elevators are basically safe zones.

Fantasy Scifi. ALiens is not fantasy sci-fi just sci-fi. There better not be any Jetpack business goin on in ACM.
But Natural Selection looks like a good alternative to Starcraft. It looks too busy for my taste as a conventional FPS game.

Overall, I still think it looks below-average.  Looks like a pretty good sci-fi shooter, but not so good as an Aliens game.
Exactly mate. That's why I am way more excited about Natural Selection 2

Its reminding me so much of AvP 2010, just another halfway-there product.  The weapons and models look great, environments look pretty good, graphics, eh... those acid splatters are kind of hideous, but we won't have to worry about that pesky acid anyway.

I really don't get any tension from the gameplay, or a feeling of being afraid at all.  Those double/triple-kill bonuses don't help.  You don't have a HUD for immersion, but you have "triple kill" flashing up on the screen like we're playing an arcade game?

    Maybe that was just multiplayer...

Overall, I still think it looks below-average.  Looks like a pretty good sci-fi shooter, but not so good as an Aliens game.  Most depressing.  Still on an express elevator to hell, going down.

YEESH, I remember playing the alien and having to start off as a facehugger first then chestburster. I think this was AVP2.

Thanks to that video now I finally know what a xenomorph is...

Well, they are bullshitting us in the same way they did with AvP3, talking big about how they consider the feedback and then saying there will be no lifecycle.

I just hope we are gonna have more than just 4 MP maps...

    and an Alienware M11X.
Thats your problem then. Alienware PC's are garbage. No offense to you though, its all about the Alienware's cheap work.
So far it's actually been alright to me for the most part. Recently though it's been saying when ever I tried to check my Nvidia graphics card, that I'm not attached to an Nvidia GPU. Which is kinda annoying, but other than that it has been pretty good. However the screen is wobbly which is apparently a common problem that Dell fixes for free, but they still haven't responded to my email (which I sent a month ago) so their customer support isn't so great.

I don't pay for PC games. Lets just leave it at that. I don't mind paying for console games cause most of the time, I get them for under $20 bucks after a months time has passed. Unless its a good old Nintendo game. Than I gladly shell out the $50 cause i know I'm getting my moneys worth. What I pay for is a guarantee that it'll run and i don't have to sit 2 feet in front of my screen. I can play on a nice big TV on a big comfy couch. PC games are fine for FPS and RTS, but for real "video games", the console is just the superior choice.

NOW LET THE WAR DIE. I CREATED IT AND I AM DESTROYING IT.

Hey, I own both a Ps3 and an Alienware M11X. For gaming I like my PS3 much more, I find a lot of PC games you have a chance of it not running or running poorly. With PS3 when you buy a game you don't have that fear. With PC it's constantly this error, that error, the game lags like crazy, the game crashes and you end up wasting your time trying to fix it, using google or youtube and a lot of the time the you just give up. With a PS3 the game freezes you take it out wipe it down with a cloth to get out some smudges and you play. I find when I play a new game on a PC, I'm almost expecting it to not work the first few times, and I end up frustrated and completely pissed off.  When you get the damn thing to work, yeah you get mods, and other great things but it's being able to play that is the problem. You call up a tech guy or something when you're really stuck and he starts telling you, right click here, type the code 14929 into the text box below, check to see if this is there, then scratch your left ball, but not the right one cuz that will crash your computer, spin 381 degrees clockwise but if you go one degree off your computer will explode and don't even try counter clockwise because you'll wind up launching skynet, ok now the game should run, but it doesn't so you go back, and he tells you are you sure you didn't scratch your right ball, and the shit just continues.

That is why I prefer console.

Getting it for 360. Not paying $1000 bucks minimum to run a game. Take that PC gamers!

If you have a computer for general use, you wont need that much to run a game.  Once you get a decent gpu in your rig you can get any game for free.  I play PC games because I'm broke.

    Take that console gamers!  :P

I don't mind the idea of new xeno's as long as they don't look like a bunch of rejects from the 90's kenner toys.
I've pretty much abandoned the idea of this being a truly 'authentic' aliens game and I've made my peace with that, just make it good ok GBX.

Top left, that's one of the laziest professional concept art pieces I have ever seen.

To be fair the person making this probably didn't know it was going to be shown to the public nor are they trying to produce a masterpiece. It was probably quickly put together to just get a basic point across. When you have hundreds of assets to concept I can understand cutting some corners to get the basic concept across.
It does look goofy however considering how disproportionate the head is.

bad controls(for a fast paced shooter), bad FOV, worse graphics, no mods, no patches, worse online community, servers with finite lifespan.

    1. Actually, I rather prefer console controls for shooters. I f*ckin hate mouse.
    2. I'd say the FOV is pretty much the same.
    3. Most computers with standard graphics-card pretty much have same quality as a console on a good tv.
    4. Why would I need mods? The game is supposed to be fun itself. I hate when people mod games for sh*ts and giggles, it ruins the entire seriousness of games. Especially this game. Who would ever take this game as canon if there is going to be a mod that gives your player a clown-skin?
    5. You can get patches and updates on Xbox Live (I guess same goes for PS3)?
    6. Dunno about online community, never really bothered me (although I do mostly play with people I know).
    7. First time I hear that about servers, but okay...

    And most important of all:
    8. I have a guarantee that it will work and that there wont be any lag.

I can agree that first seven points outline opinion rather than practical issues, but the last one is indeed of importance and what I would consider the most obvious reason as to why many people buy shooters for their console rather than PC. On a comp you pretty much have to buy a new graphics-/sound-/whatever-card every 2-3 years. And they must be compatible and all that crap, or else you'll get errors or lag. Buying a console ensures you ability to play any game for many years without lag and without need to spend money on additional stuff.

For replayability so the game lasts longer.

I get what you mean, but most console games in '1080p' are actually 720p upscaled. Ultra-resolution antialiasing isn't possible with alot of the console games. ANYWAY, colonial marines looks fantastic lighting-wise and I can't wait to play it in the dark with headphones. :)

Maybe.  But consoles are where the money's at these days.  A:CM is being developed with the 360 and PS3 in mind first and then it will be ported to the PC...even though, I admit, a better and more powerful game could be built out of A:CM if it was the other way around.  Out of the box however, all the PC game will sport is a higher resolution.

Right now there is no way to prove that the PC version will have better controls, more patches, a better online user base, or servers with longer lifespans.  That's just speculation.
