Project Prometheus Still Uncovered

You should all remember the mysterious Project Prometheus website that went live last weekend. It’s entirely blank aside from two hidden passworded pages, eridu and 245409. We just received an e-mail from seeasea containing an image of the Prometheus that he says is from the eridu link!

There’s no word on how he managed to crack the code but he’s kindly shared them with us.

 Project Prometheus Still Uncovered

You can view it in full size on the forum!

Update #1: Turns out some fans deciphered the password to the eridu website following some hints left on Twitter. The password is tell abu shahrain. You find read more about it in our forums.

I like to imagine one of the script review meetings may have went something like this...

The structure in Prometheus and HR Giger's Harkonnen castle design from the aborted Dune:

    http://i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g425/mrmagoo6/DDM2DDM2.jpg

Did Scott dig up Giger's old, unused designs? Giger worked on Alejandro Jodorowsky's version of Dune pre-Alien, and Ridley too worked on Dune after Alien, but left the project due to his brother Frank's death. Enter David Lynch. Anyhow, a return to Giger's old designs?

Thanks! That is what I was seeing. It can't be a coincidence. Ridley wanted to do this stuff in Alien, but was short on budget, so he can now do what he wanted to do, in regards to some of the concepts of Giger. I know the design was made after Alien, but Ridley is obviously still a big fan of his, and he is sneaking in this stuff for the fans!!! We haven't even seen the "monsters" yet. :) Me thinks that Giger designed those too, and Ridley is just lying about Giger just doing Murals...

    ...

You, Sir are just too fast ;)

Wanted to post exactly the same pic compare.

Yep, it almost jumps to the eye. Hopefully there is more to this structure than pure rock.

Hopefully :). A little bit of an organic feel here and there will bring it much more in line. Current shots just make it looks like eroded rock though. Which suits for sure... but doesn't conjure Giger's style. Let's face it though... imagine building some of those illogical landscapes and buildings of his... it would be like trying to build your own penrose staircase .

So, eitr is the goo, its an acid [DNA is an acid is it not?(alien blood?)] and humans were made from clay (eitr)?

Eitr is our maguffin then. we can make anything living from it!

it looks very much like Ridley took Gigers design and added some Sphinx-style erosion - et voilà

Great finds! And as for temple in the movie, it seems to include designs of both Dune's and Egg Silo picture, depeding on the side you are looking at it.

Abu shahrain is Arabic for (father of two months)
What does "Tell" stands for then?
  8. LarsVader
About the temple's shape we can spot in the trailers, don't you count it's very similar in its exterior of early Giger's draft of Alien Eggs Silo, not to the Dune's structure design? I'm darn sure you have seen this picture before:

Regarding Eitr - could it be the vital element needed to produce functioning androids? I mean, the mythic substance is also refeered to as 'creating life' or something like it? The white substance that flows in their veins wink wink..?  ;)
Well, I personally doubt it will turn out to be robots' blood, as it's quite rare resource and robots would perhaps be rent to pieces and drained for their precious white fluid  ;)

i really hope the story will be something big, something really new and cool ...
...and, to boot, stipilated by the more large scope of information, rather than the one can find on Wikipedia!  ;D

Sir Ridley:  All right, I want you to hit the books, and integrate all the important Norse myths into this story.  And I mean really get into this research.  I DO NOT want you relying on Wikipedia for any of this shit.

Will you exemplify it with screenshot?

i don´t want an event horizon, red planet, mission to mars or avp movie ..... I mean there is a lot of stuff in prometheus that reminds me of this movies ....

I think that's what Giger's design would look like when exposed to the weather for about 500.000 years.  :)

Thing is, it is missing organic components, and also missing the illogical/irrational part of his particular surrealist style.
Buuuut thats content for an entirely different topic that probably doesn't belong in these forums...

Onto the original point: yes it is reminiscent, and whoever devised it's concept was surely taking from his ideas in generality.

Also, anyone else notice the bowl reference in the Norse mythos, and the bowl holloway is looking at in Trailer #1?

I was just saying it looks like the Dune painting, that's all. Looks awesome. :)

    Didn't mean you :)

It does look pretty interesting, yeah.

Plus, you people are mad for thinking that complex is giger-esque. If you have an understanding on fine art (i.e. have done courses, are a professional artist) I'm sure you will know what I mean.

    Or, y'know, eyes.

I was trying to be diplomatic :P
But yeah, eyes would do lol.

But the temple is based off a Giger design--one of his unused Dune temples, complete with a face and everything. It's been watered down, but it's still obviously based off Giger's work.

Yes, I agree. It has been potentially based off it, in general shape. But lets not confuse that with a true Giger design as some are :P.

I think it's reminiscent in outline shape. But nothing more.

To say that the complex looks giger-esque... well... I really don't think so. There is nothing bio-mech and illogical about it and that is after all his style. It simply looks like rock that has been crafted and eroded, with some interesting patterns here and there.

In Norse mythology, the god Loki was bound to a rock. Above him is a large serpent which drips toxic venom upon him. His wife collects the poison in a bowl, but must empty it every time it gets full. As she is in the process of doing this, the snake proceeds to cover Loki in poison. Just as Prometheus gets his liver eaten only to have it grow back again, Loki is temporarily saved from venom only to have it drip on him once more.

This all just made me think of the first trailer (not the International one), we see Holloway looking at a bowl.

Yeah, I noticed the 'Cosmic Call 2' detail as well, although I have no idea of the implications...
It was transmitted to different five Sun-like stars during the same one day (no Z2R was here, though!). Probably some of those stars will play a vital role in the film, that's what I'm guessing, but I'm not sure  :)

    Nice find, 180924609 and Cavalorn!

Thx and I second the praise.  :)

Those stars are approx 40-70 lightyears from Earth so I guess they (and their potential systems) are all candidates.

Love the connections to Norse mythology. Now why didn't I pay more attention in school...?! I live in Scandinavia for Christs sake...  :D
  24. ChrisPachi
So Weyland is collecting something that has been named by scientists in this fictional future as Eitr, referencing a mythological poison that is produced by a serpent and is the very first spark of life. This ties into so many of the themes that have been showing up in this film. Serpents, poisons/acids, creation myths, Loki/Prometheus.

The question is how did they get it if the Prometheus Project has not yet launched? The page mentions that Weyland has received message from deep space, so maybe these messages contain instructions on how to formulate it?
  25. ChrisPachi
There is another link between Prometheus and the poison Eitr via Norse mythology:

At a later point in time, he was captured in his sleep by King Niðhad in Nerike who ordered him hamstrung and imprisoned on the island of Sævarstöð. There he was forced to forge items for the king.

In revenge, Weyland killed the king's sons when they visited him in secret, fashioned goblets from their skulls, jewels from their eyes, and a brooch from their teeth. He sent the goblets to the king, the jewels to the queen and the brooch to the king's daughter. When Bodvild took her ring to him to be mended, he took the ring and raped her, fathering a son and escaping on wings he made.

Welund tasted misery among snakes. The stout-hearted hero endured troubles had sorrow and longing as his companions cruelty cold as winter - he often found woe Once Nithad laid restraints on him

Below the forge is the headless body of Niðhad's son, who Wayland has killed, making a goblet from his skull; his head is probably the object held in the tongs in Wayland's hand. With his other hand Wayland offers the goblet, containing drugged beer, to Bodvild, Niðhad's daughter, who he then rapes when she is unconscious

Points bolded by me that could link to Prometheus.

     8) the plot thickens.

Ok - what is this 'Eitr' resource that Weyland Industries seems to be in short supply of?!

    Wiki entry for Eitr:

Eitr is a mythical substance in Norse mythology. This liquid substance is the origin of all living things, the first giant Ymir was conceived from eitr. The substance is supposed to be very poisonous and is also produced by Jörmungandr (the Midgard serpent) and other serpents.
