Prometheus Trailer Premiere and Q&A with Ridley Scott

The full trailer for Prometheus has just premiered online at AMC Theatres’ Youtube channel as promised. The video runs for 2 minutes and 32 seconds and includes a whole lot of new and spoilery footage.

You can watch the video below. Alternatively you can download it here in glorious HD.

Below you can also watch the Q&A with director Ridley Scott and Lindelof from the same promotional event in which they answer some questions regarding the film’s origins, Peter Weyland and more.

Additionally, there’s another Q&A at AICN in which the film’s rating is mentioned. “It will be what it is. At the end of the day, you’ve got to go for the best movie – and that comes from Tom Rothman basically. (…) You go for as stringent as possible. But at the end of the day, it’s a pretty good relationship with me and Tom.” Says Ridley. Read the full interview here.

Here are some things I'm seeing in the america full trailer that was just released on saturday at wondercon. Many of these have been talked about earlier in the thread but I just want to try and provide some visual feedback with some simple photoshop annotation:

First: I must have been missing it or maybe it is just self evident but I think it's interesting that david is obviously being infected and bleeding in that close-up in-helmet screaming shot we keep seeing:

    https://www.avpgalaxy.net/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fs13.postimage.org%2Fnc4ete19j%2Fdavid_infection.jpg&hash=d8ae7e18b4eb9d3d99555f0bb14976fd09b804d1

Second: while I agree what people are saying about multiple tendrils in the close up shot of Noomi, it is clear that she is having a very chestburster-shaped creature w/ one long tail removed from her by the 'auto-doc' medical device. Please also note all of the "blood-to-mud" mpaa digital fixes to make the blood look black in the trailer. In the feature they drops all over the glass and Noomi's abdomen will likely be very red and bloody:

    https://www.avpgalaxy.net/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fs16.postimage.org%2F52dvtznyd%2Fsomethingburster.jpg&hash=f160b23e5c0c1119918c582e3662558527f2f428

    here is my messy breakdown:

    https://www.avpgalaxy.net/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fs14.postimage.org%2Fhsy5dn08h%2Fbursterbreakdown.jpg&hash=3b08f5ac7924aa641c28312edf179214b58c92f2

Third: it is clear that what others are saying is true: She is stapled back up by the 'auto-doc' and is stumbling down the hallway to warn the people in the mess-hall:

    https://www.avpgalaxy.net/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fs9.postimage.org%2Fbbmx0qqtr%2Fnoomistaples.jpg&hash=a157e6acc44d8bef80b70fdbdfce6df491481823

Forth: I believe that we clearly see the tall bald blue engineer character (whoever he may be) first activating the jockey chair navigation-gun here:

    https://www.avpgalaxy.net/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fs13.postimage.org%2F9ckqk7t2f%2FJockeywgunbreakdown.jpg&hash=43fca782065158fb7765c1c1e9f0d4d0baf16e22

and then climbing into the chair and being instantly engulfed in the bio-mechanical flight/navigation suit that we know as the space jockey. Notice first that in movement we can clearly see a partially visible form under the articulated shoulder pads and outer ribs. Notice secondly that the inner ribs have the same sculptural patterns with one of hte many flute-like holes along his chest. Also there is a similar 'inverted' ribbing pattern on the revealed upper arm that has a lot in common with what we see on his thighs in the previous shot:

    That's it!

Director of "blade runner" and "gladiator", why was Alien completely snubbed? So annoying that theyre not acknowledging it, can't help but feel its cannibalising Alien instead of prequelising it

I can not get over how much the Prometheus looks like a Ron Cobb design.

Just to illustrate my point better-

"The Jockeys were out to get us all along!"

... really, movie? That's what you've got for us after 33 f**king years of people asking what that thing was? The footage is epic, but the plot can go f**k itself from what we just saw in the trailer.
I must confess I have the same doubts, alongside with a hope, that there is more behind the scenes, we have already seen.

The trailer reminds me of event horizon's trailer.  Very similar feel to it [though this should actually be a good movie as event horizon is awful].  And that movie was a hard "R".
;D Once I have compared colour scheme and imagery of both films: http://www.avpgalaxy.net/forum/index.php?topic=40956.msg1228700#msg1228700

Anyone else think the Jockey-In-Chair shot is unfinished CGI? There's something kind of flat about it...

Not to mention the suit's a bit different than in Alien, but who knows if that changes somewhere along the storyline.
Yet to pay attention Alien's pilot has a natural (human) skin colour, while Prometheus' one is as grey as the chair itself.

@ Fiveways :  perhaps there is going to be some connection between the pinkish brain-like matter below those sarcophagus-like structures? After and engineer is created in one of those--it is spent? Is this engineer re-created by something the crew of the Prometheus initiates?
I was looking for a while at those sarcophagi, but unfortunately didn't find, what Narcissus was talking about... If someone here can point them out on pics, will you post them?

Who is the guy screaming ''cut it off''
Isn't this captain Janek's voice?.. In trailer you hear him say "It's a ship" and "Whatever that probe is picking up, it's with a life form" Sound alike to me, however the desparate shout is intense to compare with usual tone.

I don't think that it is a squid. I see only 1 tail, I think the reflection on the glass behind Shaw is what you call a second tail, multiple tails.... but I still think it is a larger chestburster.

    This thing looks like squid.

If you look closer you can see an umbilical cord connecting "squid" and Shaw.

The last scene in trailer shows Shaw and jockey ( or mutated Weyland acoridng to some theories) , so i wonder, what if the whole giving birth  to a "squid" happens after some f**ked up rape/impregnation that we see a glimpse of in that last scene of a trailer ?

At 1.35ish - mohawk guy says "are these things moving?" and gestures to his own helmet, also looking like he's slightly recoiling from something inside it. Fits with everything else we've seen about him, most obviously the apparently in-helmet explosion of acid/goo.
He's just talking to someone on radio. Asking.

he is asking ''IS THIS THING MOVING''? or something like that cause it seems the ship is starting to move

It's hard to notice but if you look closely there are surgical marks on her belly in the shape of a inversed T, and that things ombilical cord goes to her stomach. Also i don't think those are tendrils, just a long tail, and the creatures legs, arms jerking around. The head is long and shinny and has some blood on it. For me this is definetely the chestburster. Question is why the hell is is so big,and how come it ended up in her belly.( No i don't believe in the rape scenario)

I have only just recently joined the forum but I feel like now is the perfect time for me to exercise self-restraint and stay away until I've seen the movie.  I think it's reached that point where I've seen as much as I want to see before seeing the movie and even though none of this is confirmed, some of the speculation seems to be onto something with regards to piecing things together.  It's one thing to throw about random speculation but it's another thing to start putting together the whole movie before we see it.  I want to be as surprised as possible.  Part of the fun is the unknown.

See you guys in June.  And hopefully it will be a forum filled with praise for the movie. ;)

Seriously this trailer. Even if the movie itself doesn't turn out as fantastic, this trailer on it's own is a near-masterpiece. The way of building the tension is heart-rushing and then that one last slow/quiet clip at the end with a striking line. Great dynamics! I get shivers at that point and also at the "cut it ooofffff, cut iiiiit oooffff" part. So intense it almost hurts. Visuals and cinematography are sci-fi magic too as I've mentioned in an earlier post.

Or perhaps, Shaw was on that table, someone went in at night and placed the creature above her so that the creature would impregnate her.... after the impegnation, that someone would come back in and remove the creature.. don't know just throwing things out there..

The specimen is hoisted on a crane in the operation tube, which might mean it was extracted from her somehow.
I wonder what cool toys could be made from that scene?  A claw machine where the player extracts the
specimen and has to get the wriggling beastie into a containment device?  Or simply a variation on "Operation" with Elizabeth Shaw as the subject?  "don't touch her sides, OR....BUZZZZZZZ" !!!

Looks like the creature above Shaw is in some swivel contraption that is holding the creature in place.. which would lead me to believe that she is not aboard the Prometheus.

    I think it is,
i think the scene of her on the bed praying is her psyching herself up to go and get it removed by the auto doctor medical table thing.
then once its out she struggles back to the others and falls to her knees.

Definitely not a "natural" birth (she still has her panties on), no evidence of any surgical opening from which the thing was removed from, which leaves only one conclusion which Ripley could REALY play on - Oral birth.

Actually someone posted a picture of Shaw wandering down a hallway (in her white undies) and made mention of staples across her stomach.

yep pause the trailer in the shot of her leaning against the wall (with a red space suit in backround) you can see a black strip accross her stomach and the staples below or above it.
  17. Kronik
    Shaws "Birth"...

You can clearly see the creature being held above Shaw, which we can all presume somehow came from within her, but think about this...

Well, he did say this movie was going to be nasty, and it seems like a logical follow on from the facehugger, which inseminates via (for want of a better term) oral rape - same similar idea, just a reversal of roles.
