Today, thousands of websites (the largest being Wikipedia) were blacked out in protest of the controversial SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act) and PIPA (PROTECT IP Act) bills going through congress in the United States. Their aim is to stop copyright infringement but instead, they will destroy the very freedom of the internet. This doesn’t just affect people in the United States but everybody in the world. The major players supporting the bills obviously include the MPAA and the RIAA. The opponents include Facebook, Twitter, Google, eBay, Yahoo and many other high profile companies.
