The Aliens Colonial Marines demo shown at E3 2011 received a lot of praise and feedback from the press, now you can see why. Below you will find the full length E3 demo. Pure Aliens Colonial Marines goodness. The gameplay video, taken from the Xbox 360 version, lasts for 11 minutes and is narrated by Gearbox’s Randy Pitchford. It shows off a number of different environments from the second act of the game, including the destroyed Atmosphere Processor, Hadley’s Hope operations area, the medical bay and the debris of LV-426. You can download it here in HD & here in HQ.
Today is September 30, 2011 which means that Aliens Infestation has been officially released in Europe. The game is available for the Nintendo DS and has been developed by Wayforward in association with Gearbox Software. It’s an action-packed, platform shooter with a hardcore, retro feel and a deep storyline that combines elements from the upcoming Aliens Colonial Marines game and William Gibson’s unused script for Alien 3. Players are able to recruit and play as 19 different marines, each with their own unique dialogue, and explore iconic environments including the Sulaco, the Derelict ship, and LV-426.

In related news, we just got word from Sega that there may be some more cool (and lengthy) stuff coming very soon. Special thanks to Sega for the news.
I’d like to thank the anonymous contributor that provided these pictures to the convention at weekend and that has just sent me some of them to put online:

As you can see it looks suspiciously like the Space Jockey chair without the telescope (or whatever it is) device attached. However, the 2nd picture looks like a telescope device.
The third developer diary for Aliens Infestation has been revealed today. In this entry, Adam Tierney and Cole Phillips of WayForward focus on the characters of the game. Memorable characters that leave an impact are a vital part of any Aliens or Colonial Marines related project. And this is something WayForward took seriously when crafting Aliens Infestation. You can read the full thing here.
“We worked with acclaimed Marvel Comics artist Chris Bachalo to design each of our 20 marines. The team began with a list of character archetypes, but Bachalo truly brought them to life with his incredible art, even going so far as to name and give personalities to several of them in the process. These portraits were then used for all dialogue scenes, as well as the tiny, bluish radio displays.“
Make sure to check out part two of this entry. There you will find the character bios for some of the most iconic characters of the game. Aliens Infestation launches in Europe on September 30th & on October 11th in the US. Special thanks to Sega PR and WayForward.
A newish promotional image for the upcoming Aliens Colonial Marine videogame has been released. The image was first seen in the cover of PC Gamer back in July but now you can see it here in full. It shows Winter, the main character in the game, being attacked by various aliens in a hive. The APC also makes an appearance in the background.
In related news, gameplay of the game will be shown in the next episode of GTTV. Make sure to check back on Thursday, September 29th, to see the new footage.
“So what can Alien Vault really offer us that previous books (there are a few more than the 2 I listed) can’t? Well, that’s an incredibly easy question: Passion. Alien Vault came across as a personal account, as if I was sat across from Ian Nathan, talking to him and hearing the excitement in his voice as we discussed his favorite movie.”
We also had 2 winners for our Alien Vault competition, Alex Hislop and Kanani Coward. Congratulations to both of them!I hope you all enjoy the review and the interview and if you’re interested in buying a copy then Amazon has a bargain!
The second developer diary for Aliens: Infestation has been published today. As previously announced here, this entry focusses on the gameplay and some of the game mechanics. You can read the full thing at the Sega blogs.
“Our xeno spawn systems helped elevate that unease even further. Basically, the two primary ways that xenos can appear in this game are: slinking out of the shadows, or popping out from the floors/ceilings. The first approach is a subtle, uneasy entrance. A xeno is wedged into the architecture (as it was in the final scene of Ridley Scott’s alien). The player knows it’s there…or do they? The hidden xeno will remain lodged in the wall, completely still, illustrated in a way that matches the sci-fi art style of the environment.“
In addition to this, nine new screenshots from Infestation have been uploaded online. Click here to see them. Thanks to Sega PR for the news.
The first Aliens Infestation review can be found in the latest issue of NGamer magazine. The UK magazine has given it 80/100. The review is spoiler-free and praises the graphics, gameplay mechanics and the overall fun of the game. You can find the scans by clicking the image below.
Update: Another review can be read in the October issue of the UK Official Nintendo Magazine. They gave it 82/100. This review also shows a screenshot of a mini-game recreating Bishop’s knife trick. Click here to find the scans.
As you can see there’s plenty to do over the weekend. Quite a few of our forum members are going and I’ll be speaking during the Prometheus panel as well. Make sure you get down there and enjoy yourselves.
