Dozens of new screenshots from Prometheus have been leaked online. It appears that someone recorded the footage from the recent Comic-Con event and posted pictures of it online. Beware spoilers.

As you can see from many pictures, the alien influence is definitely noticeable in the set design. Thanks to Darkoo, Andrew David Clark and DreadCentral for the news.

Yeah, let's send a team (callsign "Prometheus") in to steal the fire...uhm urns...the eggs...argh, no steal the secret Big Mac recipe...nah, the teraform tech...just the footage - STEAL THE DAMN STUFF!
  2. Ha! I knew I couldn't be the only one. But what's the deal? I don't believe for a second that no one recorded it.

I assume (uh oh) someone managed to swipe some footage with their phone (those stills had *some* kind of bar up the side of them, lending to the theory)... and now they are far too afraid to share it for fear of Fox binding them to a rock and letting birds peck their liver over and over.

Alternatively, that bar was just a scroll wheel type deal and they were flicking through photos or some such and there is no footage (LIES!).

Either way... someone needs to get it and leak it! 8)
  3. Hey everyone! I've been reading this Prometheus forum for a few weeks now and just decided to register.

My question is: has anyone here actually seen the video version of this? I'm not going to lie, I've been scouring bittorrent and soulseek but i haven't found a damn thing yet. I know its out there somewhere.  I dont have the patience to wait for the next official release.

    Thanks!

I've been hunting it like it was the last animal on earth a starving man could eat.
    Zip.

Also, given no one can confirm they actually saw the video - only that there was a video with a name that appears to be what we're after... I'm starting to doubt it is out there.

  5. Just a question - but can someone quote someone who actually said that they would not see Prometheus if a Queen was in it? I think I'm the one who instigated the Queen-hating, but I never said I wouldnt see it if it's in there, so who did?  ???
  6. Really, why is anyone bothered about canon with the   A  L  I  E  N   sequels? Cameron didn't give an arse about continuity in 1986; why should Ridley worry about other people's bad decisions? He can make anything he likes and it'll still be better than anything that followed   A  L  I  E  N.

Actually, when you think about it, continuity doesn't even come into the equation when dealing with prequels. Any director with half a brain would logically avoid everything done already so they could say "Well, this is how it could have happened, but it didn't...so what!". Assuming Prometheus is a prequel, I'm willing to bet anything Scott put's into his film, when/if ALIEN 5 actually happens, someone will come along and try and make sense of it again, that's just the nature of things... unlike sequels where you can be inventive, but still follow what's already in place.
  7. We don't need to get riled by the queen remarks.  People are going to watch this movie even if they say they won't.  They're just trying to express support for Aliens which has seen a growing trend of unfair criticism in these threads lately.

  9. With comments like "I won't see it unless there's a queen" I realize some people have a limited ability to understand fully the laws of nature when it applies to science fiction. Parthenogenesis is the process by which a female of the species becomes pregnant without contact with a male. It would then make plausible sense for the aliens to have alternate forms of reproduction as well. The possibilities are endless. Again, making a stand that you won't see the film because in your mind, things should only happen one way it quite ridiculous.

In terms of the queen....ultimately she was a device, and as eloquent as she was in terms of the design, she furthered the 'bug slash hive' mentality as promoted by Cambo in Aliens. Instead of a continuation of the quiet terror of ALIEN, he turned everything into a device including the creatures themselves, ergo dumbing the entire saga down. No queen needed.

I definitely understand your point of view...and to an extent, I agree with it.

But in terms of film making and the time (1986) that the film was made, Cameron made a lot of really insightful and smart decisions.

While I would like to have seen a more Alien-like sequel, I remember walking out of the theater after Aliens thinking "that was a great sequel". And obviously, the queen was a huge part of why that was so.

The really tough part about this franchise is that Alien 3 COULD have been fantastic. The extended edit is better than the theater version...and the somber ending is even acceptable finally...20 years later...but what killed my movie going experience, even in the extended edit, are some of the terrible effects shots.

As much as I want to believe it, the dog alien running along the ceiling is just not believable...and that's all I can think of when I see those scenes...

At least we don't have to worry about anything like that happening with Prometheus.

Again, I think Ridley really wants to make a science fiction movie (first) that's worthy of it's predecessor...(well, actually it's successor...but that's another issue entirely)...and if that's how it turns out, I think I'll be very happy with the result...

  11. On canon:
It's entertainment. As long as some kind of logical explanation is presented that makes getting from A to B plausible...then you should just go with it.

It's entirely possible that the original creatures were asexual. What we see in Alien is IMPLIED to be something that was borne of the space jockey. The egg that impregnated Kane, we assume, came from Space Jockey/Alien DNA.

But obviously, in Alien, we never saw a full life cycle of the creature...one born from a human...to know what would have happened to it.

It's completely logical to assume that what happened in Aliens was the result of human hosts. Something we would have seen in Alien, had the creature survived longer.

It's also completely logical to assume what happened in Aliens could be explained by something that happened elsewhere on LV-426, independent of the human hosts...and we were never shown it or had it explained (uh...Prometheus anyone?).

And it could be parts of both...hmmmm.....

Either way, saying you will IGNORE a movie if it doesn't acknowledge the Queen's life cycle is obviously a personal choice. But it's one you should think about...because making a statement like that...to me at least...means you have taken something too far.

What if Prometheus never mentions a Queen in the life cycle...but there is a second prequel that does? You won't know until then, will you?

I am a huge Star Trek fan from back in the days of TOS. But I enjoyed the reboot and accepted the premise. Even if it had been less logical, I would have still accepted it and tried to enjoy it. Why deprive yourself of that?

    On the relationship to Alien:
I saw somebody post about not knowing if this movie is related to Alien.

I'm sorry...unless time and money has been spent to purposefully mislead us (we know some probably has), it would be almost impossible for this not to be an Alien prequel...part I.

I mean seriously...space jockey...the design of the set (Giger design everywhere)...the things people have seen on the set. If anything, they have tried to lead us away from that because Ridley doesn't want someone to be disappointed if a chest hasn't burst by minute 20 of the film.

On Scott, the actors, the film in general:
I can't imagine who better to try and preserve the legacy of the original film...one that obviously was a big deal for Ridley...than the man himself.

I don't know how any movie like this could meet EVERYONES expectations...but I am excited to see it because so many of the people you would want involved in this movie ARE working on it.

What more could you ask for?

Here here. I think you've sumarised a lot of my feelings about this.

"If anything, they have tried to lead us away from that because Ridley doesn't want someone to be disappointed if a chest hasn't burst by minute 20 of the film."

I think this kind of thing is the main reason for the name change and the "is a prequel/isn't a prequel" official vagueness.
At this point the Alien saga comes with too much presumptions and expectations that they have to play against the past in order to do something genuinely new and not just "oh yeah, change the monster a bit, that'll do fine".

  13. no matter what happens i really going to see prometheus, im pretty sure that ridley can bring the essense of alien, how it should be

My take on is that Ridley will bring his inherent style and influence and thus Prometheus will have very a similar look and feel as the original Alien. There's no point in changing artistic styles, especially when there's so much money, time, etc... on the line.

Now, what I'm really interested in is what Lindelof and Dariusz Wolski will bring to the table. Maybe even what Ridley's brother Tony will bring because Tony is a producer on here too. Too many good names to mention. There will be a lot more proven talent around Ridley this time.  And I'm just very excited from this fact alone especially since I'm a huge movie buff
  14. I just hope Ridley has fun making a film that I will love to watch over and over.

Can we really ask for, or expect anything more?

I have no doubt in my mind this will be amazing, regardless of what the content covers.
  15. really? people are gonna protest this if it contradicts the alien queen? that's beyond retarded. if you're gonna be that anally technical about semantics like that, the queen was contradicted in the first movie with the deleted cocoon scene.

clarifying i like the ridley´s work, i love the first alien is my favorite of all the saga, i love the gigerezque alien, so erotic, so biomechanical, perverse and terrifying, i love the cocooned scene of bret and dallas is very misterious and dark, actualy i dont like all the cameron´s vision about the alien lifecycle compared with ants, my friends love the queen alien and we are speculating about if the queen posibly will be discarded of the saga canon, they dont want to see prometheus if discard the alien queen .

i realy don´t care if the queen is discarded, i prefer the terror and suspense of alien than the action of aliens.
  16. If Prometheus was to throw the alien sequels and spin offs out of canon then I will too. The only sequel that I can watch over and over again is the extended alien 3.

The other 2 seem like dumb action movies, good dumb action movies, but still dumb action movies.
  17. It makes sense for them, but it's the dumbest thing I've read in a while. They should see Prometheus because it has the capability to be one of the best science fiction films in decades, not because they're angry that they're not getting what they want. If Ridley Scott pandered to fanboys wishes I wouldn't respect him as an artist, nor would i be interested in his art.
  18. who are you talking to?

the guy before me didn't use the exact words "contradict", but I never said anything about protesting.

    Don't know who you're referencing

"thanks for answer, a lot of my friens are saying that if prometheus discard the alien queen life cycle they will not go to see it and they will ignore it."
And that doesn't make a lot of sense.
  19. thanks for answer, a lot of my friens are saying that if prometheus discard the alien queen life cycle they will not go to see it and they will ignore it.

Don't worry, whether or not this film is in any way related to the Alien franchise is still relatively up for debate.  I imagine this debate will still exist even after the film is released.

Yeah probably this. This will be Ridley's first movie that goes back to the same universe (purportedly) as his older movies. I don't think he cares about continuity. While you guys debate, he'll probably be working on his next romance or heist movie
  20. really? people are gonna protest this if it contradicts the alien queen? that's beyond retarded. if you're gonna be that anally technical about semantics like that, the queen was contradicted in the first movie with the deleted cocoon scene.
  21. thanks for answer, a lot of my friens are saying that if prometheus discard the alien queen life cycle they will not go to see it and they will ignore it.
yeah, a lot of people are divided on the issue, contrary to what some posters say otherwise.

I hope at least that nothing in Prometheus will contradict the existence of queens. But for me, not a deal breaker. Just glad that another real Alien movie will come about, because for me the last truly great movie in the franchise was created 25 years ago.
  22. Question for you guys...is this still being planned (and filmed) as two separate films, or has that changed and we are now talking about one, stand-alone film.

There is an article that says Ridley is "buttering up" Lindelof to help him again with a 2nd one.  So you can presume from this article that at least Ridley wants to do a sequel to Prometheus.

    http://collider.com/prometheus-comic-con/104058/

The article is probably referencing what Ridley said in the satelitte feed video in SDCC. I didn't watch the actual feed.

i have another question, this film will discard the alien queen seen in aliens?  :-\

    That is not yet known.
  23. The crew wont be going to the Derelict on LV-426, it'll be another Jockey ship, with at least one living Jockey in hypersleep, or they do go to the Derelict and find the Engineer(s) in another part of the ship. I'm sticking with the former explanation.

As an aside, apart from the tusks, I'd say the Giant Head will look more like the second picture from the above post.

Me too. Hopefully HR Giger is having more input than we've been lead to believe...

  25. This might be a stupid question here.... (im out of the loop) lol,

But i assume the jockey is still a bag of bones/fossil when the crew explore the  derelict? seeing as this movie is around 35 years before A.L.I.E.N ?

The only time the jockey is seen alive is that (Million years scene yea?)

And we see more of this ship new places/sections right? Those screenshots look awesome.

  26. They've already implemented some of Alien in there.  The room where fassbender is walking in looks pretty old school.
    http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b13/AndyUK_1962/Prometheus/162b028d8fbacc707c6a_2.jpg

And keep in mind that the Prometheus ship is a different working-class ship than the Nostromo.  I wouldn't even call it a working-class ship.  It's a ship made for scientists and explorers so it would be at the VERY top of the line.
when we are talking interiors and different gadgets yes.but cryopods?i think those are pretty standard if you do faster then light.they can't have newer tehnology cryopods 30 years before the first film.

and also remember aliens?it is set 70 years after the first movie .it has a military vessel, wich theoretically should use the latest in tehnology and be very fast.it still didn't have jelly in the pods.i still say that in those screens there is only light.

people only make the asumption it is goo because we saw the goo in the eggs and started fantasizing about it.it's stupid.also the pics we have are low quality.the contrast in them is bad.the colours are off.when we'll se the actual detailed footage are doubts will be resolved

I see what you are saying. But why would the goo be newer tech? If anything I think that the goo would be a step backward. Why have to clean goo off when you can just get out and be alright you know. Are they really going that much faster then the other movies, I would think it is about the same especially since this movie is basically a prequel. Plus in Alien and Aliens when they get out of the tubes they are groggy yes, but not like we think that one picture shows where it looks as if they have just awoken and one of them is falling down to their knees you know.

So yes I would think the goo is a step backwards in tech.

But I can also see where you think it is just lighting. Remember this movie is being filmed in 3D so this could be something they did to enhance the look you know... Anthony

I don't think Ridley Scott see's beyond his Alien film. So anything that's been seen post Alien 1 mean's nothing in terms of Tech or Alien hybrid.
  27. Oh God...
What gives you so sure that will be holographic screens in Prometheus? ::)

If I recall it's due to a crewmember's facebook update talking about working on hologram table displays or something.

or something. Said from memory working on the ships control panels. No mention of holograms from what i can remember

    There.
  28. Up to now,i have not seen any holographic screen in Prometeus leaked images.Only a 2D screen with a human body figure.
    Nothing too advanced...

Dude, that could be added with CGI...don't think that they've got a holographic device on the set  ;D

    Oh God...
What gives you so sure that will be holographic screens in Prometheus? ::)

You said u haven't seen any holo screen on the leaked photos...that's clear since there can't see any on leaked pics, they would be added later.
