They are. Like I said above, the director is doing an Aliens documentary called Alien Encounters: http://www.avpgalaxy.net/2011/06/21/alien-encounters-superior-fan-power-since-1979/

And they're organizing an Aliens convention in the UK: http://www.avpgalaxy.net/2011/06/28/25-years-of-aliens-convention/

    They're big fans.

Nice! Thanks for the heads up Hicks. Already a fan of the Alien Encounterss Facebook page!  :)

OK, that last facebook link makes it all a little clearer.  I guess this We Are One short was done by filmmakers who are just Aliens fans themselves (a giveaway is that one character in that movie is Dan O Bannon)

On the other side it has the Egyptian wings of the original Nostromo crew shirts. ADC and the gang are huge fans of Alien (he's doing the Alien Encounters documentary and organizing the 25 Years of Aliens convention) so a lot of the work they do will often be influenced by Alien.

Thanks for the info Hicks! Didn´t know they were doing the Alien Encounters documentary as well, nice to know.Looking forward to the Aliens Encounters doc.The convention also sounds like it´s gonna be lotsa fun!:-)

I wonder if Cameron wanted to correct it after having a chat about its origins with Ron Cobb who worked on Aliens and came up with the Weylan-Yutani name

Did Ron Cobb work on ALIENS as well? I thought it was only Sid Mead, but I might be wrong.
My answer to the mistery of the added "D" is probably that somebody in the production of ALIENS made a typo and passed that info over to Cameron without him noticing. They probably noticed the mistake later on,but didn´t bother to  change it since it´s hardly noticeable, except for the hardcore fans!

I hope Ridley puts it back to Weylan, I really do.

Me too.But don´t think James Cameron will be too happy about that if it happens!

Actually,we still don´t know if the "Company" in PROMETHEUS is even called WEYLAN/D-YUTANI or something completely different. We´ll have to wait ´till more details come out.

Great find! So the pic of the astronaut woman may not be of Noomi Rapace, but of Rosie Jones. The "Weylan" patch on her arm is no coincidence. This could be a part of some viral marketing tie-in to Prometheus.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

    BTW, here's Rosie Jones

Don´t think it´s a part of a viral campain tie-in to Prometheus, more like a coincidence. That pic of Rosie Jones is actually from a short film project called "We are one" http://www.facebook.com/RosieOnMars posted on line by somebody as a prank to make believe it´s from Prometheus.

Nice pics of Rosie Jones BTW.

If you look closely in the pic you´ll see her patch says "Weylan" before it became Weylan-Yutani.
A nice little nod to ALIEN.Also read that her space suit was heavily inspired by Ripley´s white space suit.
    Hence the ALIEN similarities.

Haha. You can even seen Gareth (Abe the Alien) on the left and Darren Kemp director/producer/writer of Aliens Epilogue.

Nice find! The Weylan patch looks great. Although it's spelled Weyland.
Quote from: Bad Replicant on Jul 26, 2011, 04:17:04 AM
It was actually spelled that way in Alien. Cambo added the 'd'.
Bad Replicant is correct.Originally in ALIEN the "Company" is called WEYLAN-YUTANI without the "D".James Cameron for some reason( probably misinformation ) added the "D" on WEYLAN in ALIENS.

Take a closer look at the beer can logo, you´ll see it actually says WEYLAN-YUTANI without the "D".
Somewhere there´s also a shot of the bridge´s flight control computer screen starting up where you can see the name Weylan-Yutani on the upper half, but right now I can´t find it.

It was from a short film completely unrelated to Alien.
I wouldn´t necessarily call it "completely" unrelated to ALIEN. ;)

That picture wasn't from the Fox panel.
People said that it was in the trailer and the one in your sig is the only official photo at this time.
If it's not from the panel and it wasn't released by Fox, then where did people get that?

It had to be displayed somewhere. Or maybe I am making the biggest confusion of all time and deserve to be thrown into an egg chamber all by  myself  :'(

Then how come they were able to record the rest of the conference and even take the spacesuit picture? Nowadays there are cameras which can be smaller than a pack of cigarettes and mobile devices which can be barely seen, especially in a crowd.

Does anyone actually have any footage of the film they put on? I am now very enthusiastic about this movie. I hope the PG-13 film is intense, but I would too prefer RATED R! Scott can pull off a great PG-13 movie that has a very mature feel of rated R! I still trust him.

What i don't understand is that the interview was recorded a few time but no one thought to record the trailer/behind the scenes footage. and only one image was released of her in a space suit?

id on't get how thats even happened :S

That picture wasn't really from the footage. It was someone on Twitter being a dick.

And they weren't allowed to record the actual footage, only the panel stuff.

Here's another couple of good interviews I found from Comic-con, so I'll keep them in the thread I've made.

First up, really nice interview with Lindelof by CinemaBlend.com > http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Comic-Con-2011-Video-Interview-With-Prometheus-Writer-Damon-Lindelof-25858.html

And here's an interview with designer Nevillie Page (start at the 3 min mark) > http://www.wired.com/underwire/2011/07/video-creature-creator-for-prometheus-and-avatar-explores-monster-motivations/
