So we have another article, saying the same thing? Big surprise, I know. But I’ll post it up regardless. IESB.net has posted up a short article where they’d talked to Rothman:
“There’s been some talk. Ridley Scott, Ridley is right now working on Robin Hood, but I think he’s toying with the idea and that would be great for us. I mean, it’s always been a matter of, really, if you can get the originator to do it that would be the greatest thing, so I’ve got my fingers crossed, all of them.”
So if Ridley’s interested Fox has the door open to him. Sounds like they’re quite desperate for him in fact. But the idea of a prequel…? We’ll see. Thanks to Darkoo for the news.

There’s a short interview with Robert Rodriguez over on AICN. He talks about the treatment that he wrote that was set on a jungle-like Predator planet. They’re trying to find a writer and director but it’s unknown whether the movie will be based on his treatment.
“…With a nod toward Cameron’s ALIENS I decided to call it PREDATORS. I set it on a jungle-like Predator planet. It was just a writing assignment, so I didn’t have to worry about budget constraints or how the movie would actually get made with the technology that existed back then, so I just wrote any cool thing I could come up with.
Fast forward 15 years to when I got a call from Alex Young over at Fox, who had been digging around and found my original treatment. He was eager to get it made and re-invent the Predator franchise using the treatment as a guide. So he contacted me to see if I’d be interested in being involved, and it seemed like the perfect project for us over at Troublemaker Studios…”
Arnie gets a mention but they haven’t approached him about making some kind of appearance. There’s also a little info about the rating. Rodriguez says they haven’t discussed the rating yet but his treatment was very “R”. Thanks to CELTICPRED for the news.

20th Century Fox have given the new Predators film a release date already – July 7, 2010. That news can be found on ComingSoon.net and Shocktillyoudrop. The studio promises the film to be “a bold new chapter in the Predator universe.”
Shocktillyoudrop also makes it clear that Robert Rodriguez is “shepherding” the project – i.e. producing – NOT writing and directing it. A writer and director haven’t been found as of yet. Presumably, this will be a new story and not based on one of Rodriguez’s existing scripts. The release date is really quite surprising, though. Even AvP Requiem had a longer production than this movie. Thanks to DazAvP85 and Lt. Mike Harrigan for the news.

For those of you in the US, if you check out June’s issue of Official X-Box Magazine, you’ll find a six-page article about AvP3 with lots of new images and information. As usual, we’ve got the scans – many thanks to Torque Reikan for taking the time to scan it for us.

The article goes into a lot of stuff such as weaponry and equipment. The most interesting information is about the gore. Apparently, the Predator’s trophy kill animation is one of the most “spectacularly violent sequences” they’ve ever seen in a game. So much so they expect that it will be cut to avoid an Adults Only rating in the US. You can check out super high-res scans in this post or check out our Gallery for the scans.

Following on from yesterdays news regarding the screenshots, it’s been revealed that the latest copy of PlayStation World will have a 6-page article on the new game (we’re currently waiting on scans). However, they have released a small tease on their website:
“”As the Colony continued digging for minerals they discovered ancient ruins that immediately caught the attention of Weyland Yutani, who began doing a more thorough sweep of the rest of the planet. That was seven years ago, and recently the company found what they were looking for, but couldn’t contain it…”
Rebellion also talks about how the hardware has allowed them to do so much more. Keep an eye out here, we’ll be bringing you scans soon(I’m popping out to get the magazine now). Keep an eye out.
Edit: Okay gang! I’ve uploaded 6 super-sized scans of the articles. You’ll find 2 new screenshots (what appear to be ingame screenshots) and plenty of new information regarding gameplay techniques and story. You can check them out in our forums. Sorry for the delay.

You’ll all remember that reboot of Predator that we posted about and then Fox debunked? Well apparently that isn’t the case and it is on (which we also reported following the second report about Cena’s interest and a tip-off we got from a source). Well anyway, IESB is reporting it is apparently confirmed:
“In a news conference today at Troublemaker Studios, several Texas state politicians were in attendance to sign HB 873, the long-awaited reform of the Texas film incentive program. Rodriguez talked to the audience of press members and revealed his upcoming film slate.”
I am, once again, awaiting “confirmation” from Fox. I can’t say I’m overjoyed about this given his original Predators (Predator 3 pitch). You can read the whole article here. Thanks to Pierce for the tip. Keep watching this space for further developments.
EDIT: Okay boys and girls! Brace yourself! This is true! Confirmed by Fox mere seconds ago. This reboot is on the way. I’m expecting some sort of press release soon so keep checking back.

The first screenshots from the upcoming Aliens vs. Predator 3 game have surfaced in a spanish magazine called Play-ManÃa. Not sure what specifics the article mentions but the game will be a first-person shooter. The aliens in the game are also based on the ones seen in Aliens with the ridged heads.

Here’s direct links to high-res versions of the scans: Page 1 & Page 2. Credit goes to Takhen for scanning the article.
Update: Another article can be found in Nuts Magazine [UK]. There’s a new picture plus it says a little about the game. The game is set 30 years after Aliens on an earth-like planet that has been colonised by aliens. There’s three species-specific single-player campaigns, as well as three-way Alien vs Predator vs Human online multiplayer modes.

Comics Continuum has just posted up the story details and cover art for the second issue of Dark Horse’s new Aliens series:

“Jealously guarded by a half-mad group of planetary prospectors, the labyrinthine necropolis may be a treasure trove of incomparable wealth, or a funeral complex with no exit, as an archaeological team from Earth discovers too late.”
Issue 2 is due out on the 22nd of July. The series illustrator Zach Howard is also registered on our forums so feel free to post him questions in the Aliens comic discussion board. Thanks to VikingSpawn for the heads up.
EDIT: A 4 page preview for the upcoming Flip Book has been released on the Free Comic Book Day website. The pages appear to be from the Predator story and make me wonder if the preview will be coloured or not.
EDIT: Dark Horse has just released a full colour preview for the flipbook. It contains several pages from the Alien story and several from the Predator. And it looks pretty sweet. Thanks to Viking.

Recently there’s been a spurt of game magazines making a big deal about Rebellion’s upcoming AvP3. Most of these have had little in the way of information. However, the Xbox 360 Magazine had an article with some minor details in:
“Three campaigns: one as a colonial marine, one as a Predator and the third from the perspective of an Alien Drone. Expect frantic, FPS horror, lots of gore, and the beep of the marine’s motion tracker to keep you up at night. The three different characters allow players to experience three types of gameplay, each taking advantage of their strengths and weaknesses, but AvP was always remembered for being one of the most pant-wetting, keyboard-swetting games to ever be released.”
According to forum member Lone Warrior (thanks for the news) the information in the article is said to be provided by Rebellion. Check out the forum for more details.

I just received an e-mail informing me of an Aliens and Predator attraction in Queensland, in the land down under. From what I understand, it’s a laser-tag style game:
“Your Mission: Join the Battle at Dreamworld and help wipe these creatures out… but first you need to learn everything you can about these deadly adversaries. Here’s your first tip… if it moves, shoot it!”
Not overly sure how it works, but like I said, I think it’s a laser tag style event. If you’re interested you can check out the AvPvY website. If anyone happens to pop down, be sure to let us know what it’s like. Thanks to Liam for the e-mail.
