There’s a new interview with Sigourney Weaver on Living Scotsman where she discusses her new movie Snowcake. She of course talks about what she thought of AvP. Here’s an extract:
Just the idea of the cross-franchise cash-in was enough to make her want to kill off Ripley, she sniffs. “It was because I heard about it that I wanted to die in the third one. That was absolutely my motivation. I said, ‘Just get rid of me, I don’t want to be around.’ And then, of course, they cloned me [in Alien Resurrection].” Weaver appears rather pleased that AVP, as it was crassly marketed, failed critically, popularly and financially. “It kind of serves them right,” she says, smiling. “I don’t know, as I haven’t seen it, but I have a feeling that the alien might not have even won. I think that’s shocking.”
She goes onto say that Predator has been maxed out after appearing in “that awful movie”. She also says Ridley Scott and her have talked about bringing Ripley back.
